Lawliet hasn't listed it yet because he wanted me to check it first.

We recorded Teamspeak and an ingame demo, Lawliet spliced it together. Without Lawliet this probably wasn't ever getting done, so I never expected him to go through and fine-tune it. Any chance you could tell me the points at which it does though?

EDIT: Oh that's actually pretty fucking bad.

 

Tbh, empires audio levels are terrible like that, especially if you happen to be close to an explosion. You cant really try to be action spec without having to deal with that issue.

Also, that terrible stock Bioml effect

PROTIP don't ever get turrets on a large match. Ever.

 

What? Why? I mean i got like4 free points from a single nuke once, but what else was terrible? I mean i guess spending 3 minutes on defensive research when you intent to push is a bit silly.

Also its be really nice to have some way of seeing team res and tank counts in those videos.

I like how my lag complains were a highlight though. Be starts to shell nf main with arty, but naaah that not interesting :>

 

If you're in a game, I absolutely expect you to complain about lag at some point, literally without fail.

 

I honestly dont really like how its apparently become a meme since im not trolling when im saying this, my connection really is this fucking unstable.

anyhow, how was this made anyway? It looks like a playback, but the action is constistent with commentary. Confused.

 

Thanks for all the work you put into this Lawliet. And the commentators I guess.

I feel like it actually helps a lot having a recording from spectator perspective. It's a lot easier to spot 'team' mistakes compared to player perspective recording where you can at most see squad mistakes.

We are definitely going to improve for the next scrim so Xray better not slack off.

I mean, the no ref strat was intentional after the first 50 minutes.
They kept killing our refs so we were like "fuck it we don't need that shit, let's just kill their players and buildings". No mistakes there.

We put high priority on not losing any tanks, especially heavies. And pretty much told everyone that they are not allowed to leave base without a tank so even people like Nihia bought heavies eventually.
Most of the credit goes to Security in that regard, he did a good job of keeping the heavies together and encouraging people to not waste tickets or tanks.

All the city action in the late game was pretty much organised and lead by Posthumous if I remember right while Security and I were focusing on north.
And of course Lawliet helped with everything, I think we put a bit too much on his shoulders that game that's why he wasn't really on top of his game in terms of buildings.

 

doesnt work in pubs cause in pubs when comm says get 1 or 2 , you get 5, plus theres no actually holding positions in pubs when you are winning. Its not doable.

 

Well we recorded the Teamspeak audio as we commentated, and I demoed at the same time. You'll hear me timestamp the teamspeak recording with the ingame timer a few times throughout, though that didn't really help because the top part of the HUD is missing on demos for some reason. I forget how, but Lawliet managed to synchronise it all up in VirtualDub, so huge props to him for putting it together after I sent him the demo and mp3 recording.

After watching through most of the first round now, I feel like a great deal is lost by not having the HUD at the top, not seeing when I open up the scoreboard and such. It's probably worth me trying to set up Fraps or something next time. It's a learning experience I guess, I've never really recorded myself playing or spectating Empires, nor have I ever tried commentating before. It's a lot more challenging than I expected and I'm actually really looking forward to doing it again. I feel like I was actually getting the enjoyment out of those games without the stress of actually playing in them.

 

City was super quiet, none of us used our mic essentially. Organized and lead would be strong terms here - basically no leadership in city.

Freak tried a couple times to get my walls in city recycled by Lawliet, Lawliet did it once. It was not the best decision.
