Lolwutj00sai? How bout, instead of walls, we give the engies Sandbags? Sandbags are smaller, so you can easily look over them, they would be built wai fast, plus we wouldnt have these massive walls everyware! Of course, they wouldnt have to replace walls, just supplement them. And tanks could just roll over sandbags and destroy them. With some Hav0k physics, if its not too hard (i mean, nothing else in the game uses them, other then ragdolls). Plus, maybe use sandbags around some of the buildings? As it is, the buildings seem too alien to the landscape (ok, maybe they dont, but its food for thought). Make the buildings a little more roughed up, put sand bag barricades around them, add a texture to the ground below them of concrete (if they dont already). Just general spiffying?
Well, sandbags do seem more realistic, and to throw up a sandbag wall quickly is more logical then spending a long time buildings walls, but when it comes to actual strategy I'd rather skip the whole coolness and have a nice wall to stop tanks.
there was an idea floating around that sandbags would be like parachutes... picked up in the armoury by and class...
that's partly the mapper fault though.. wait no it is ENTIRELY the mappers fault for allowing such chokepoints in the map.
I disagree with it being a problem. There's not much use in having the ability to build walls when you know you can't use them to restrict access to your base for example. An engy can destroy a wall in a matter of seconds anyway. True, walls can be used as cover as well, but it seems a bit stupid to build a 2m wide, 2,5 m high wall covered with barbed wire if it's only purpose is to allow someone to hide behind it. So imo walls should be used to restrict access to certain areas (hey they're called walls ). For that matter, maybe cover should be something like sandbags. Maybe it isn't a bad idea to have the commander build walls, and engineer place sandbags (and no walls). Btw, the new barbed wire and sandbag models are nice. People who have played ... euhm, ...that infantry only ice map which name i forgot should know what i'm talking about (not glycencity).
I think he was mostly referring to blocking off access to almost an entire map by placing walls on/in chokepoints..
yeah.. glycen gets alot of wall spam.. ive been on teams that block off any exit from our base with walls (making tanks useless).. or people will wall off the middle flag so when you get shot at you cant easily run to get health and some people who are really gay like to build walls around my mines so people cant die by them...
Makes me wonder. What if you build a wall on top of a mine? Will it: a) explode (exploit - being able to detonate mines as an engy without getting hurt) b) stay on the ground, but no one can stand on it so it's become useless c) jumps on top of the wall I really want to test this, this evening.
Good. If the server crashes, krenzo will have all the details he needs to fix it, without me having to report it as a bug. Plus i'd love to crash the server when there's 32 people playing :D I mean 20 people playing and 12 people spectating. All for a good cause offcourse ...
Yes, i tried it as well, and it's indeed option b. I even stood against the wall, on both sides, only a mm away from the mine that was inside the wall, without exploding. Mines that were placed on top of the unbuild wall dissapeared into the wall when i built them. So if the road ahead is mined: _______________ o _______________ and there's an engy but no gren around ==> _______________ ::===o==:: _______________
if you place teh walls correctly any NF LT can drive over the wall... like so: __________________ =====ooooooo===== [ ()--] -->--> =====ooooooo===== __________________ (with that weird thing being the tank )
