Add cvar to restrict revive and squad revive. (E.g. emp_restrict_revive_nf and emp_restrict_revive_be) Pro: - can fix endless rounds (by admin) - emp_break would be playable - district could be fixed (E.g. increase tickets to 10000 and increase bleed for every flag. Flags more away from center bleed more. Maximum play time should be around 30 minutes. Tickets waste for respawn will be less important.) - New possibilies for mappers of conquest maps. Con: - none
This won't be needed for all the commander maps. But people also like to play conquest maps. And endless revive orgies are a problem there. Gameplay is already broken at these maps (where is the RTS part?). Btw. emp_break can't be fixed because blizzerd lost the files and all attempts to fix district failed.
yet another "fix" just because of district/escort/UC ... its the gamemode. if you want decent infantry combat, there are lots of games that offer it.
You know that many people would cry if these maps were removed. And the fix shouldn't be that hard to code.
Making it so revive only brings you back with 10 or 25 health would be a more elegant way to fix the revive whoring problem.
spawn, run for 10 minutes, die. logistical hell. rinse and repeat. Squad revive seems fair, but in all, it contributes to http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=12279 it's another inconsistency the game could do without. if people were up at arms with the possibility of the script manifest making gameplay into an inconsistent broth of ridiculousness, imagine what would happen removing a core gameplay mechanic like revive. removing revive would pretty much condense empires into an even more unfun bf clone and more like wannabe RTS.
Have it as a mapper thing in the map preferences entity that allows them to change things, you know that thing that decides cammo and shit.
lol, people play emp_break????? i made that map as a test, i never really released a "playable" version and was busy on remaking it but halfway trough my hdd died and i lost the files i will work on it again when i have some more time if people like the concept (without all the buggy shit ofc)
Its a shame this threads been so violated. This is a legitimate thought thats been bandied around by several people. This is only something to be used on those conquest maps (urbanchaos, district) at the will of an admin or a vote. This gives admins a way to end the game without slaying one team, slaying everyone, or just changing the map. These maps can be dragged into infinity because the overtime mode of having no tickets isn't actually strong enough to end the game.
Thx for your support. I think most people don't get the point of this suggestion. Revive should not always be restricted. This should give only a new option to fix some maps or situations (like turrets, walls and certain vehicles can also be restricted). If it works, then we maybe can add this hardcoded for some maps and if not admin shouldn't use it and cvar can be removed.
how about the hp of the reviver = hp of the person that was revived. so an engie will think about it before rushing to revive. is it worth going to ur comrade only to have only 10hp left? should u wait till ur teammates who are around the corner to help clear the area? otherwise leave it the way it is =p
