Rename "Plain" armor+engines to "Crap" armor+engines

Basically is the same as standard armor/engine

Why call plain armor.. paper armor? heavies with paper armor is called paper heavies..

Paper that is stacked on top of one another is very strong. A thick phone book is bullet resistant.

Why not call plain armor.. butter armor or wax armor? respectively, butter heavies and wax heavies.

 

Plain / standard can be easily interpreted as balanced / generic. It doesn't infer that it is bad in most areas, only that is excels in none.

Basic is atleast somewhat descriptive of its quality and therefore better.

Paper is a pet name for crap but doesn't really make sense unless you've played before and you get that.

Crap/poor whilst more descriptive and obvious is too much like breaking character - the mod has a back story and it should be reflected in the naming in the tech tree.

IMO "Basic" is the best of the bunch so far.

BE: reclaimed or recycled
NF: scavenged

 

Renaming symmetrical aspects of the game to complement the empires fanfiction mythos would be a nice addition to the game. I like "recycled" and "scavenged" a lot.

It would be better if the default armor and engine had noticeable malfunctions, like slight heat would make the engine stall or something.

 

Me too, looks like a bloody thankless task.

I would definately like to see "Paper" as a subtext/flavour text for the engines and armour.

Basic engine might be better instead of 'standard'. Plain armour is fine as it definately implies no buffs.

"Cheap" could be a decent replacement from "plain".

Maybe we could change the icon to something that looks rusty and old?

It should really not be called standard engine, advanced coolant would be the standard engine, it should just be renamed to something that is kind of derogatory, like mediocre, early, basic, common, and many more.

I think armor should be plain, cause it's plain it does nothing special, unlike REACTIVE, REGENERATIVE, REFLECTIVE, ABSORBANT. I didn't list composite cause it doesn't really do anything special but it isn't exactly a shit armor, even though it burns the team resources.

 

The problem is that "plain" armor isn't just normal tank armor that doesn't do anything special. "Plain" armor is the worst in absolutely all possible respects when compared to every other tank armor. The same applies to the "plain" engines.

 

But it's the cheapest! I think it should be called Cheap Armor. That has negative connotations, right?

If the icon were modified to look rusty and gross, it would work even better.
