Removing all aircraft from 2.0

Why is there an aircraft icon at the top of the UI? Shouldnt that be removed before release?

It's been there forever. I think it's just a placeholder.

 

It most definitely is a placeholder. However, wouldn't it be better to not "tease" 2.0 newbs so that they will be more satisfied with the what IS in 2.0 and not will be in future releases?

EDIT: I know in 1.071 people always ask me how to build aircraft because they see that icon

 

agreed. frankly I think the tank and aircraft counters are only taking up valuable space on the HUD and should be removed. you're almost NEVER going to look at it. the only time i will ever look at that is when we're possibly reaching the tank limit on the server.

in those situations perhaps a red tank icon could appear in roughly the same place whenever the tank limit is reached. much better than permaneantly taking up the screen with useless blue nothing.

 

The aircraft one should go until airplanes are available, the vehicle one needs to stay.

yeah maybe it would be a good idea to get rid of these things so people dont get confused

I've never used it. If I want an overview of how my team's armor is being used, I can just glance a few inches to the right.

 

The only time I use it is to see if someone on my team loses a tank so I know when I have to yell at my team.

 

I remember when I first started playing I was confused as hell why there were no aircraft. They were listed on the webpage and there was that icon at the top. Poor poor foolish Onea.

Anyway, lose it.

 

This is how we actually lost people in the old 1.0 days. I remember a bunch of idiots who bitched and moaned there were no aircraft, and that the building menu and the aircraft symbol confused them.

I think it should be removed if we don't want to piss people off and confuse them.

yeah when 1.0 was released everyone was asking for aircraft, and saying they need aircraft etc, this will just be the same unless its removed imo

I don't think so.

We should get rid of the aircraft icon, the voice command for "I request aircraft support." and the air factory too from the buildings menu.

And to be honest. Even I have played Empires a lot, I haven't looked at that tank and numbers after it almost at all. Maybe once or twice. I really rarely use it but I think it is nice there. Otherwise the top of hud would became too plain only with tickets there.
