Right now you can jump out of cover with your Rocket Launcher. Shoot while in the air and go back to cover. Ok, you have to be skilled to do this, but in my opinion it's not fitting to empires gameplay. The accuracy should be more decreased if you are jumping. It's Empires and note Quake3. PS: If there is already a thread to this theme, then post a link. I have only found threads for the Mortar.
..How often do you see people jumping out of cover shooting a rocket (which is one of the easiest weapons to dodge)?
Removing the ability to jump while shotting a rocked would make it alot harder to fight tanks with the rpg. PS: The rocket works that way since forever so IT IS empires gameplay that you can do that.
So which is it? Either rocket jumping is commonly used or it would make no difference for fighting tanks since it is rarely used. And just to add to confusion even more my own observations are contrary to both as I have not seen this used against tanks; however, I have seen it used against infantry at close range.
It isn't used often but I don't see anything overpowering it, so there's no point in removing it. I mean, both teams got grenadiers and more often TANKS > infantry.
You can't kill people with the rocket launcher though, unless they're brain dead or building something, so it's hardly an overpowered tactic.
The first thing I thought when I read the title was 'When did they add rocket-jumping to Empire's and why haven't I been using it?' You're title is kind of misleading.
This isn't really a big deal. I only got killed by rockets twice in a year. One was a lucker and in the second I got in the way.
Wiki got everything.. Like this, featured article a few days ago: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crushing_by_elephant
The only rocket jumping in this game is the mortar jumps, and those can be lethal if not done correctly.
