Since there are a few talks on land mines.. how about giving grenadiers the ability to detonate the mines manually by using the right click? this will give grenadier the option to plant mines.. go hide behind some bushes... wait for a tank to run over the mines and then.. BOOM! regardless if person have defusal or not. it will give grenadiers more options in playing style. one can say it would be an ambush strategy. it will make enemy tank drivers be more cautious and scan the area for the potential grenadier. Defusal would still work if the grenadier is not paying attention to his mines. It would also add more teamwork. for example: if an infantry sees an enemy tank, he/she can mark it on the map and the grenader *at another location of map* notice that its near his mines.. and if he times it right... BOOM

Of course, some maps would suffer like escort... but who cares! i dont think its been suggested (well i searched for the term "remote" in search)

ONE: I like this idea, but I think it should only be able to work if you were in range of it (maybe the range of an engi radar).

TWO: The developers could put an additional field in the parameters entity in mapping thing that allows you to set things like turrets and camo and stuff, and it should have remote mines put in there.

of course.. there's always someone who doesnt use defusal and gets himself and maybe another tank or few people killed. technically it is kind of cheap, an almost gaurantee tank kill. but u risk getting killed by the tanks by hanging around the area to set off the mines.

having a radius for the remote to work might be flawed. what if the gren's put mines at every corner of the map?.. to fix it and make it more feasible, how about right click = 8 mines get set one at a time on the same spot, BUT you cannot move during that time. then right click again to detonate. this way the radius restriction would work better and u have to pick the best time AND place to set them *also to prevent too much OP*. also when u left click, to put a "9th mine" the first 8 mines will dissapear immediately.

but yeh maps like escort and district would be screwed... trying to think of OP situations in other maps... 8 mines in 1 spot would prevent a single gren from completely sealing off an area. the tank could still maybe drive far enough from it to not die. but it might be a problem when a few grens do it. but i guess HE cannon or nukes could take care of the problem.

like i said earlier, i do like the fact that it might potentially give infantry/scouts another job.. like grenadier puts 8mine in high traffic area, then go hide behind corner.. and have an infantry spot tanks for the gren.

Even though remote mines (or any other explosives) sounds cool. It's pretty OP, and unnecessary. Mines are fine the way they are now.
