It's weird that for some reason it will not work in empires.....well besides harryhoot"s map.
Aircraft seem to work fine in other source mods why not this one ?

 

other source mods only mean 1, it's called garry's mod, and Garry Newman has access to the source code for the source engine, which unfortunately we don't. If you use eternal silence as an example then you are wrong in that, since in eternal silence the ships can move on any axis and are not affected by gravity, even when in capital ships ships.

Also harryhoot's ships are just entities that can go straight up or down, and can move straight forward.

As for access to the source code...really that was leaked b4 hl2 was even released. On top of that if another source mod has something just copy it, examine it, then reverse engineer it. Not too complicated. The hardest part is tweaking and skinning it to fit in empires.

 

But the video the OP linked, that mod for garrys mod was not made by garry...

 

I reckon aircraft would pretty much ruin the sweet maps we have. Although some kind of commander controlled UAV could be sweet.

What we have works and is fun. Be happy with your lot or do a harryhoot.

 

All of those videos are mapper based, so if you want aircraft, make a map with it.

If aircraft were to come out we would have aircraft specific maps. So don't worry about your little slaughtered s-bend, there still could be a place for aircraft.

 

As far as I know, usable aircraft scripts are put on hold due to the lack of aircraft models.

 

I mean DIY. Whether its a success or not is a different thing.

Full scale aircraft would entirely ruin the scale of Empires, nothing would make sense. You could get from one corner of the map to the other in seconds, and most strategy regarding that would go out the window. The only way aircraft will ever work, is by scaling everything down to make it smaller. 2x scaling means 4x bigger maps. 4x scaling means 16x bigger map. And so on, and so forth. But scaling is a coding nightmare. I'd love to see aircraft integrated one day, but only if they were done properly.

Next month is admin abuse complaints, then ***** month, then scout month, then all the devs are leaving month, then all the devs are back month, then comes genius idea that will save empires month, then comes that idea was actually fucking terrible month, then comes grenade spam month, then comes new player spam month, then comes extreme drama month, then comes we have a new modeler month, and then the cycle repeats.

 

actually we do have aircraft now, they just suck balls, can't bank, and can shoot two nukes that can get itself killed. also two standard engines ftw.
