reduce the time wall debris is visible.

reduce time mortar smoke is visible.

aesthetics should enhance gameplay, not interfere with it.

leave it be. all those effects help infantry against tanks ... and infantry can use as much cover as possible - even if its just visible cover.

blasting a mortar into the walls and seeing like a billion pieces come out is annoying, but I like the smoke, you rush through and fist the guy on the other side of it.

Which is just as much an enhancement to gameplay as having the smoke help you.

The smoke is a mechanic, it can be used in multiple ways. Nobody said everything in the game has to be entirely designed to help you and only you.

By that logic grenades should explode on contact because it'd be easier to kill people with them, or bullets should home in on people because it'd be easier to kill people that way.

    It's not a defect, it's a feature.

are the physics for the wall debris client side?

because you may think that tank can't see you, but you may be dead wrong....

oh, good point. but at least the follow the momentum so it should be somewhat similar since those debris are huge. but yes hopefully they are clientside so this point is basically invalid ...

well there are multiple possibilities to implement it
you could also just let them drop to the ground and slowly let them descend afterwards

or do it left 4 dead 2 censored style where they blend out even before hitting the ground ;P
