I have recreated the hallway from the empires menu background. I originally was going to try and have it a dynamic map background, however, there doesn't seem to be a way to hide the menus that pop up from the map (motd, etc,) without breaking the game. yeah dynamic just isn't smart for multipayer, i wouldn't want to wait that long, but you can get some pretty kwl static background by useing garry's mod and setting up a kwl scene maybe
some simple animations shouldn't be any big stress, i'd like to see nf and be battle it out each from a side of this corridor, making it be possible to disablement would be a quick fix and for newcomers this is like the best first impression you can give if the newcomer waits with playing a few seconds to admire the fight on the menu background (i did it for supreme commander, it kicked ass)
A background map using common files (eg a grass texture, the barracks model, the flag model) will actually reduce the initial load time when connecting to a server.

Yes, but it allows you to precache all files, even if the map doesn't have them, so if you play a conquest map first, it'll still have the classic files ready for when a classic map shows up.
sup com had a video behind it, which is a lot faster to load, than a map, which is rendered and calculated on the fly. good luck scripting and animating the bots too. now if we could make a movie, put it on a texture and have the background just load the texture, that would be a great way to have the same effect with zero load time.
It's supposed to be a BE war-room, right? Pretty cool if you make it like the Russians storming the Reichstag from CoD. Like have some NF assault troopers breaking into a slightly smoking BE war-room with some BE officers suprised in the act of discussing strategy. Bonus points if there's a gren nine-mining the room.
u gotta put that thing in gmod and have an army marching past, only visible would be their shadows blocking the light intermittently. tanks and inf. plz then just do it as a small looped video. that would kickass if the lighting of it turns out.
