RC8 Testing version is out

    Hooray, hooray! Stuff to be tested (you can do a few of these on your own or with 2-3 players):

    • Refactored code for orders. Check that it all still works. (Need a few players)
    • Attempted fix at order names and distances screwing up
    • Refactored code for showing health / construction bars (vehicles, players, vehicle carcasses, engineer map brushes and objects (e.g. barriers on escort)). Check that it all still works.
    • Reactivated the vehicle carcass code. Previous issue was that the vehicle was recycled and removed on the client too soon, causing weird issues. Check that this is no longer the case.
    • Jephir removed the "Remove join-squads-in-order" requirement.-->I've checked this and it works (wealthysoup)
    • Added the NESQUIKO GUI. Fun! Check for any inconsistensies or glitches (screenshots would be nice) (Also some bugs mentioned in pivotal about this before duplicates are reported--WS)

    Currently, both SVN and Steam are syncronized. (SVN can have some extra files used in the next version, but you won't have the DLL files to use them)

    I guess you were not around(in the testing server) when we were testing that. It was fairly interesting and causes the players client to crash... royally... sometimes a system freeze.

    The error happens when you put a tank in a repair pad... then if the enemy kills the tank but, not the repair pad... the repair pad... LITERALLY raises the dead tank back from the dead. You can get back in and start shooting but, you can't drive it anywhere. Problem is IF your still in the tank when the timer times out for removing the tank... what ever user(s) are in the vehicle... will have a client crash/system freeze.

    That bug isn't related to vehicle carcass recycling, but feel free to test if it is still unsolved

    Well that error only showed up when they enabled carcasses to be recycled. We noticed it because when we went to try and recycle the tank that was sitting on the repair pad... our calc tools showed that we were healing it... so one of us tried to get in and we were killing our enemy from a dead tank... needless to say the enemy was quite confused. Anyways... thats why I figured it was the carcase code. They disabled that code and the problem went away.

    Not sure where to dump my feedback, so I'll just throw it in here.
    I messed about on the test server for approx. an half hour and found mostly VGUI related issues.

    Com view VGUI (bottom) is missing a texture (black/purple) and when trying to repair damaged vehicles, the repair bar fill is gone. Worse than last time, since you can't see any progress at all now.
    I'd include pictures, but Steam community is down for me, so I'll add them to this post whenever it comes back up.

    Comm view GUI issue is fixed now, thanks. Checking out the repair bar issue now

    1. Is it just me or does the client lag out for 0.5 seconds when you try to look at the new pictures from the GUI? edit: No just me, guess you gotta load it once before.

    2. Here another picture of the GUI:

    3. The vehicle customization has complete black background for weapon selection and weapon customization.
    Is that meant to look like that?

    4. You should have a look at the ammo-counter aswell. You know, the one in the bottom right showing your ammo. It has some dull blue color below the ammo that is being shown.

    5. Black/pink tiles still being shown while in command mode as commander.

    6. In command mode the titles/numbers of the tabs are being cut out from below. e.g. You open up "Building" tab, and the title saying "Building" will be cut from below, also all the values for the specific buildings are cut from below.

    7. Squad menu button texts (when you press C) are very close to the left border. edit: Many texts and symbols are close to the left border of a button.

    8. Shotgun pistol is 70% transparent in grenadier tab. How the hell did that happen. edit: Nvm, all 2nd weapon selections are 70% transparent. e.g. NF HR, BE AR, NF Shotgun Pistol, etc. edit2: ONLY IN NF, BE WORKS.

    9. Automatic skill selection doesn't work when you join from one team to the other... if automatic skill selection is actually added.

    10. BE APC and BE AFV have no different visuals in the VF menu. Btw, all the grenades look the same too, although it's kind of self-explaining anyway.

    11. Press B, click on 1 of your available skill slots, press B without choosing anything, press B again. Voila, now you can't select anything for some reason unless you click the imaginary skill slot menu in the middle which should have dissapeared.

    12. BE walls finally low enough to shoot over.

    13. Attack order on BE CV crashed my client (I was NF engineer ordering attack through the F-Menu.) edit: Tried it again, yes it crashes every single time you give an attack order on the BE CV. I didn't try it out with others yet, will do in the bugtest though.

    Ok I had enough for now lol.

    P.S. Were finally gettin' closer to a fixed next version. :D Also love dat new background and GUI. Awesome job guys.

    RC10 is out already?! MOAR FEEDBACK! NOW WITH 100% MORE SCREENSHOTZ!

    1. The RC version number in the main menu of Empires Mod is cut out...

    2. NF engineer tool shows BE buildables. Is that meant to be like that?

    3. Zoom in with scout rifle, change weapon with Q and now you have a weird zoom out effect everytime you switch your weapon as scout.

    4. The sub-menu in class customization is cutting out some of the main-menu.

    5. Isn't the carcass health supposed to drop slowly? Well anyway, when the carcass health has been brought to 0% manually via Repair Tool it doesn't dissapear unless you decon it one more time at 0%.

    6. BE CV's attack order is now working but the placement isn't exactly on spot.

    7. I hope this isn't something people already discussed about but the previews of buildings that the engineer is about to build with his calculator are sometimes mixed with eachother. Mostly happens while changing teams.

    8. I don't know if this is intentional but the health bar of the VF and the crosshair get stuck infront of the barrel if the barrel is too close to a building.

    9. You can still give an attack order on enemy carcasses but they don't work anyway. Maybe disable F-Menu orders on carcasses so people won't get confused. No screenshot because I couldn't take one.

    Addition to 6. BE AFV and BE APC have the same problems. NF vehicles are fine.

    Addition to 5. Yes the health bar for the carcasses aren't dropping at all. The carcasses just dissapear even with 100% HP.

    Addition to 7. Confirmed method of reproducing the glitch. BE engineer, pick the wall preview, change teams, NF engineer, pick the NF turret, now the 2 previews are fused.

    P.S. Sorry for .png format in the earlier pictures. Thought the quality of .jpg would be too shitty lol.

    for 2. on reznovs first post you could make the actual bg image file smaller (rectangular) so that the white text now falls onto the blue background but i dont think it would look great, and by the time thats done the code could probably have been changed to fix the problem anyway

    FWIW I also prefer the old images to those images.

    Completely agreed, the old VF menu pictures had nothing lacking, also they looked very, you know, informational and detailed. Problem is I wonder if that might be a lot of work. Up to the devs though if they modify it or keep the old pictures though.
