Yeap. This will be the decider on weather or not to release on Halloween. I want everyone to be there.
6am, but I'm busy at 6am with something else related to empires, but this'll probably take precedent.
Whenever I get the right GMT.. I shouldn't have any problem being there. Is kinda grounded just that day
Be There As Kylegar said, this is the test where we decide whether or not we can release on Halloween. Our criteria is pretty much that we need a version we could release tomorrow if we so chose, so no major gamebreaking bugs. To that end as much needs to be tested as possible, in a general fashion. I expect it to take a lot of time, so if you can only come later, show up later. There will probably still be a dev on evaluating the release at that time. Finding major bugs is priority. Anyone who finds one gets a virtual empiresmod cookie.
perhaps to that end, (bug finding) you could post an updated log of any bugs still being worked on or that are not a major priority for those of us that dont feel like sifting thru mantis posts to find out if its already reported.... good idea?
I'll be there around 1pm or so PST. Before you release 2.2, I beg of you, do the following: Get the new offsets for SourceMod (theowningone said something about a sig scan) and post them so server owners can setup SourceMod to work with 2.2 properly (a 2.2 section for sourcemod/gamedata/sdktools.games.txt and whatever else SM needs) Make CS:S style radio menus work in Empires. BIND ALL THE MENU ITEMS!!! Use the num pad or something. I can't stand the Esc menus. Basically I am asking for proper SourceMod support. SM is the most used and as far as I have seen, the ONLY used admin system for EM. As a programmer, I don't think implementing those items could take more than a few hours. I think it's really important to have a tutorial level that players must complete before being able to play online, but I know that's a lot of work and that it's not reasonable to expect it for 2.2... But still... It's important...
I think we'll need a tutorial level for 2.3, but it requires entity support to do, so i hope 2.3 will be a big release for everybody (players, mappers, server owners, etc).
2.3 is geared to making empires not just a clusterfuck of a bunch of awesome features poorly implemented. Think of how often you have a good game, 1/10 or so and an awesome game 1/50 or something. 2.3 is all about increasing those chances.
i'll try and make it for the playtest. Though it is kind of hard to wake up at 6am during the holidays. Could prob make it for 8am easily (that is, if the playtest will take that long).
http://www.timezoneconverter.com/ I think US/pacific is the same as PST? So the playtest is 7pm UK time, Pete... Or perhaps it is 8pm, either way I shall be here.
Daylight saving time ends today btw, so i can play an hour longer because we have to set back the clock one hour this night.
