I'm going to make a map with Hammer based on a map from C&C generals. I think the map was called empire. It has four corners that are elevated above the center of the map by cliffs and theres a bridge that cuts the map in half. If anyone has the game I'd be appreciative if you could take a screen shot of the map overview and post it here. If not I'll just do it from memory. It was a really fun map and I think it would work for this game. Updates to follow
DO NOT WANT. [/caps] *cough* OH WELL .. it's not that bad after all .. I somehow got the impression you wanted to make a rats map.
the bridge is just a fixture, it runs across the center of the map (where most of the battles will take place) for infantry cover. this is what i got so far: ftp://24.17.115.250/preview.png textures are temporary
I apply simple textures as well, just to have an idea how it would look and know what is missing in the picture.
I'd listen to dizzyone Slithzerikai. last time i insulted C&C multiplayer he hung me by the neck for days
You have to make a displacement, apply some texture suitable for blending and then alpha paint it. more info: http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Displacement
no textures that can blend basically are 2 textures in once that you blend in eachother with the alpha channel.. I think Grizzly can explain better though
Think of it like a texture with for example 'grass' and 'dirt'. Every point from the displacement surface can be given an alpha value. If you give it a value of 0 (left click for example) you will see the 'grass' texture. Giving it a value of 100 (right click) would give you the 'dirt' texture. You can give in any value though: 40 grass and 60 dirt for example. Note that you can't see the value as a number. But when you keep holding the right mouse button and after a while the texture doesn't change anymore, you know you've reached an alpha value of 100. Anything in between is guessing, and will have to be done on sight.
There's an undenyable lack of balance in the C&C3, where as connectivity itself was a bitch in the previous storyline games. At least there was a lack of balance back when I played.
