Generic Dev Response: "Too much work to implement. Excuse me while I make totally uncalled for changes"
Dude, radar towers, if properly implemented could be a huge solution to the issue of sight and autospot and all that crap... You have 1 radar tower, mayama, make an nf one and then tie spotting capabilities to the top of these towers. ~cleaned up by your friendly neighbourhood moderator~
that looks like a totem pole of some tech-tribe thing ... ..., dunno, in my opinion it doesnt fit empires. (also it looks more detailed then anything else in emp)
seriously radar towers + a little bit of serious thought (secret back room meetings) would equal some kind of awesome solution to the autospot dilemma
It DOES look like that... This thing looks pretty cool, if flimsy. As for how autospot would work ingame (an explanation, specifically) I think it would make the most sense if a synthesized voice would tell players about enemies and such. But not the same one that says Command Vehicle Under Attack and Turret Under Attack. Said voice would warn players of vehicles, infantry, and buildings in the vicinity but wouldn't spam "ENEMY ENEMY ENEMY" if a hostile was near it. EDIT: Oh yeah, and the Comm. should be alerted, as well as any squad leaders who have objectives in the area of the radar.
as much as I'm a sci-fi fans and so love most models that people can come up with. It's useless, already tried to implement chris' towers. We won't get more stuff so keep modelling but quit hoping for new Empires' stuff.
