Did you run the one in empires/bin or the one from source sdk? Run the one in the empires/bin folder.
naw I tried that. It crashes. lol I duno whats wrong with it. So I wanted to use the model viewer. I think Sparty said it might be trying to load a texture in a spot its no longer attached to or something.
For context, my interpretation is that viroman squished the model and deleted a few parts. No changes were made to the texture it how it maps to the model. I believe the squishing is fine, but the deleting isn't, since it's probably trying to map texture to parts of a model that no longer exist. This is speculation since I'm st learning the peculiarities of uv mapping and other modeling techniques.
You could us entspy to add a static prop to an existing map. That way you know if its the model or the map crashing. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Entspy
not neccessarily. verts are stored in 1d arrays, if you remove from somewhere in the middle, tris indices are going to be off ...
Iam pretty sure I was able to force download files on CSS with mani admin plugin. Thing was that it kept downloading them every time even if the client already has the files. There was simply a config file where you put the path. not sure how about sourcemod It was also doable for stuff like models, no sv pure needed.
I got a few questions on this: What tool did you use? Did you delete the faces, which you squished down? Did you replace the whole roof? (Because otherwise there would be no reason why the UV coordinates should be reset.)
I used a free tool called kHED after I extracted the model parts from the MDL file. From there I deleted the platforms inside middle of the building. Then I deleted the two circular vent/window things outside close to top above the doors. Then pushed the roof down to the half way mark. The tool can also edit UV if I need to. I will probably look into working the building a bit more tomorrow or Saturday.
If you just pushed it down, you should also just delete the walls. They basically have 0 height then. Did you even check if this tool supports SMD export? If not, you might as well switch over to Blender right now.
it even explorts to mdl directly according to their page http://khed.glsl.ru/index.php?page=features try blender viro, it has a ton more features (plus it works with n-gons not tris alone - though ofc you could use tris aswell) edit: also the rax contains 3 additional lod models, what did you do to them, did you do something to them? because you will need to or once the rax only takes up a certain amount of screenspace anymore the roof will suddently be there again because it switches to the next lower lod.
Yeeeaaah...I don't know about that. Every engine version has differences in the mdl compiler, so I am not sure you should use that. Also the whole thing was last updated 2013. Aaaand their forum is flooded with spam bots.
I always preferred blender. Also, does it bother anyone else that this thread is named barrack (usually a verb) as opposed to barracks?
you gotta admit words which only exist in singular or plural form can be confusing ... just checked, barrack is the singular, nothing wrong with that? http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/barrack
