I feel compelled to post this, the wait is over! http://www.pvkii.com/ PVKII is releasing it's Beta 2.0 this Thursday (February 7th at 12:01 pm EST [GMT - 5]). Imo the purest fun sourcemod i've seen, it should hopefully restore your good humour if you've had an unlucky streak with Empires recently. Beta 2.0 brings the 3 new classes and a new melee system to the table as well as new maps to play. Should be great fun, but don't forget to come back

i played PVKII before and i didn't like it, is it worth me trying this one out if i didn't like the 1st?
Depends what you didn't like about it...In general, not really - it's like asking me if you should try Empires 2.0 when you didn't like 1.071...if you don't like the basic concept, why would you? Now, if you said you didn't like combat, that would be different.

Tssk...didn't I already say something like "completely reworked melee system"? I don't know what it's actually like, because i'm not a beta tester, but...they have 4 blocks now and slash arc is now taken into account.
it's nice clean mindless fun, good for stress relief. However, I've never been too huge a fan of the melee combat in the first place, I only played as the pirate or at worst the knight in the old version, so I don't know how much I'll play this one. But it's a quality mod imo and it's a shame they didn't get it out in time for the moddb awards (blasphemy! No, seriously though, I'll bet they could have split the insurgency vote or some other standard fps game votes) cause they would do well.

No, the face of modding might go from 90% crap to 60% crap. And thats where you from the Empires dev team come in: to make it 90% again . I got the mod, but it sucks. Its been a long time since i played, but i thought some of my 1337 0wN skillz might pop-up again while listening to Poison...skillz didnt return . The mod just sucks, and if ima download the new version of it, its just cuz of the guns.
I'll look forward to it, I've been on melee killing streak on a couple of mods (I got alot of laughs the other day on ZP:S for kicking the crap out the zombie team with a keyboard )
