Keeping this simple - New Class selection idea When you get the the class screen, how about choosing a certain class will give you certain attributes, such as running faster, more weapons (see later), better accuracy or better building. If you give every character the possibility of using every weapon, but each class specialises with their current weapons. for example, you choose the grenadier class, which means you have better strength, so you can pick up more weapons (or heavier weapons) but you suck at using longer range ones. Also, you can choose your favoured armor - heavy reactive armor, or composite armor, or none at all. I did just get morrowind (it was £3 in some shop) and thats the kind of idea, just a bit more restricted.
I once posted somehting similer to this. But mine was to be able to get better weapons once tech was researched. Say a grenader with a more powerfull rocket after HE or a Engi with a bio smg. Every ones grenades for poerfull after improved detinaters. But anything that will let infantry be more customisable is ok in my book.
yea, I was also thinking after posting this that different stuff could cost resources, so a super soldier would cost the earth, wheras a starting unit would be cheap.
Well I dont like the idea of it costing for infantry. I also think most people would not like it. Maybe have most of the lesser used techs help out infantry. That way there is a cost for the upgrades but not every time you spawn. I can think of several things. Of course each perspective armor,more power full grenades, plasma grenades, homming missile for grenader, bio smgs, heavier calaber rifle for scout(no one shot kills untill they ahve this). I was also thinking explosive bullets for rifleman but that seemed just wrong for some reason...:D Ok sorry for long post at work and board.
Infantry will still be incorperated into the research tree. I believe that a variation on that weapon idea is planned...
I've never had a problem with the simple system, it saved confusion. If what you are proposing is a Firearms like system, then i think it would be very difficult to make it as easy and good as the current system
Can we build our weapons =O Like modding our weapons with research crap? (deus ex) haha WHY'D YOU BUY A $6000 WEAPON! Cause i have chicken =O!
