Make plasma really good at raping walls, and have it drain infantry stamina. Also make plasma mg drain enemy tank ammo at a set ret (50%of plasma mg ammo gone=50%hemg ammo gone) Basically though, by making plasma weapons wall rapers, they should hopefully be granted a niche use.
Or just rework the heat mechanic so it's not as gay and heat giving weapons can be both effective and not OP/really gay for the victim.
It's there to stop people just sitting still and playing arty tank with a light. The question is why arty tanks still have it if it's to prevent arty tank behaviour.
Frankly, the most annoying thing about heat is that it prevents you from moving. If the purpose of overheat is to prevent you from megaspamming weapons, then make it so it only effects your weapons not engine.
I would rather see it be a cannon version of bio.. No one likes overheating. It should just deal more HE damage for heat and do less or slower HP drain than bio. But it would definitely need a nerf in amount.
i think that "self overheating" by spamming CNs is a good mechanic only damage-to-heat (nuks anyone?) and plasma create stale gameplay. if you are in a dangerous situation and are unable stop fireing before you are overheated you deserve to be forced to stand still for a while, i mean its not exactly hard to keep an eye on that colored bar at the bottom. id rather only see (hull)damage influencing the engines top speed (as it does already), maybe create more diversion here, than stupid "overheat-the-world" strategies ...
If plasma cn becomes a nerfed bio ml, either no one will research it or biology will be a doomed tech tree depending on its usefulness.
I was thinking about making extra heat give extra damage. If you fire a nuke at 99 Heat, you'd take every point of heat over 100 as damage to the chassis.
