I've sort of put up with mcthugg's period of being new to the community, with the usual bad suggestions that come from when you first get on these forums, but it's getting beyond a joke now. Seriously, just kill yourself.

As said; Plasma should burn infantry (or stuff in general) or just remove it. Completely.

you could make plasma an anti tank weapon

as in it could be done so its dot hurts armor massively but relatively weak anything else

 

new research field is probably not gonna go through. since you need to make new models and animation. just saying plasma should be changed to a different type of weapon cause almost no commander research it, cause at the moment it just wastes space. its a shitty weapon, if you miss with the plasma cannon and friendly tanks around u are dead, your pretty much fucked. bio engine makes plasma even more useless since they can run away. plasma MG.. might be more useful, but i remember trying to use it on saunder's racing map and it sucked failed to stop anyone besides me.

however XD.. i did get raped by plasma + other tanks on vehicle training twice.. was pretty hax.

 

since someone suggest that we should have a new research tree just for a new weapon, this case a gravity/push gun.. that would require new particles and effects and possibly animation eh?

just reuse plasma and change it to different role. dont even have to rename the research names... "super heated materials: .. super heat materials and then rapid cool down causes a strong magnetic field that pulls anything metal towards it" done and done.

 

My suggestion for plasma cannon:

Remove or lower the heat to target from the HIT Missile and put the heat values to the plasma cannon.

Plasma cannon:
"Damage" "0" (Damage + Heat = Fail)
"Heat To Target" "50" (must be balanced)
"Cycle Time" "5.0" (half or HIT missile must be balanced)
"Explosion Radius" "1550" (same as HIT missile)

Or it the plasma weaponry does no heat to the user, since it's inside the shell, then when the shell explodes the heat comes out of it and stuff. or it gets heat because the bullet gets energy from being in air so it makes the contents inside have a chemical reaction and make that shit hot, so it can cut easily through absorbent or paper or something.

I don't know the explanation, just heat to user is stupid. It's like shooting a gun backwards, all it does is get you killed.

Also, any form of combat where the objective is to stop combat by overheating the enemy is stupid. Tanks having ammo is stupid. Tanks having heat is stupid. It could all be balanced with reload times (like with MLs and MGs) and the time between shots, rather than the stupidly complicated and unfun system we have currently.

This was my idea way back when...if you could make it work in conjunction so that Plasma did a lot more damage once a tank was overheated (so tanks has an "overheat weakness" to plasma), it would make the weapon more viable. Though that may be a difficult idea.
