I've gotten better peformance rendering images in AutoCAD with mid-range gaming gpu's than with somewhat highend (~$600) workstation gpu's.
Damn! Really?!! Could have sworn AutoCAD has had 3d capabilities for at least the past 10 years. :p I also use Autodesk Inventor and 3ds regularly; gaming graphics still outperform the really expensive workstation cards they use at school.
I doubt that 600usd for a workstation gpu is high-end, probably closer to 7-8k usd. That's an external unit however. Quadros are generally a waste of money unless you're doing extremely large scale modeling very often i guess. On an unrelated note: I spent most of yesterday updating my drivers and installing vista sp2 so i can try some DX11 goodness. Installing SP2 somehow freed 22GB on my C drive.
WTF is inventor sounds like some jew software because your school is too cheap for autoCAD which sucks for you because AFAIK autocad is industry standard.
Don't make fun of Jessiah for his closed mind and nonexistent experience, he farts just like the rest of us
