I figure that this is as good of a place as any to note that I found a way to use official empires materials as cheat materials.( Red vs blue) It works with sv_pure. :/

 

sv_pure's broken as shit, I keep trying to explain this but the only people who seem to listen are the ones who already know this themselves.

 

Pretty sure Pure isn't broken. As it's a source engine thing....... The server settings just need to be fixed.
And you need to pack the vpks. Pure uses vpk. The other pure setting uses vpk + whatever you don't put as pure in the server settings.

But I checked my method in dods on a server using pure.

 

VPK's aren't going to come around, even if they would fix the issue (which neither I nor you can't guarantee), because it would require a good overhaul of the automated build system that frankly no one wants to touch because it's held together with duct tape and bundles of scripts.

And simply it being a Source engine thing doesn't mean it has to work. For example, VAC Secure doesn't work for 2013 mods except for Fistful of Frags and God knows how they managed to do it.

And yes, I tested both sv_pure 1 and 2 on EPIC one find Saturday morning. Any thing you mark as pure becomes unloadable by the client.

With pure it pretty simply and nearly impossible to break. As all source games use vpk. That is how it verifies what's pure. Before it used the gcfs. That is why if a server tries pure only the hl2 materials work. They are packed into the vpk.

But yeah not really worth it. There was some work arounds but probably still not worth it.
