    rate 25000 // console.

Check Utorrent, or any download you have over 30kb/s.
    Check your firewalls also.

if you're on wifi, you need to rotate out yoru signals till you get a good steady one, i know for me i can only use 2-3 diff channels but i will switch to diff channels to download, seem to download faster on some channels but keep a steady and clean conneciton on others.

    That wouldn't affect ping.

True, but I did get laggspikes :p .
Anyway, I've noted that if I have Spotify on while I play emp, my ping goes up to about 900.

I've noticed having stuff like MSN on while playing empires causes lagspikes, and for some reason when playing on VIPER my rate gets set to 3500 and I end up lagging out and disconnecting. Setting my rate to some absurdly high number tends to fix this.

if you get a like 1-2seconds lag any minute or so try this.

    • WIN+R (run)
    • services.msc (opens services)
    • search for "Wireless Zero Configuration" -> rightclick -> stop (stops the service)

i needed this service for the network adapter i had, but only to connect - so once you are online you can disable it. the lag gets caused by windows searching for open wlan spots.

    hope it helps

    edit:
huh? this was in recently updated but unread? sry for the necro then ;)

    edit2:
but seriously, dont use wlan for gameing - it just sucks ^^

also if you're connecting to a network that uses dynamic wep as a protection (university networks) DO NOT turn that service off :P
