Nukes on Escort - For the love of christ

    There is not a single fucking person that wants nukes on escort.. HE shells are more than enough to sway the tides in favour of BE but nukes just make everyone quit and ruin the game. The only reason I can figure that they are in there in the first place is that there are only 2 options for start-game research: either all or none. Because there is not a single player that has EVER played this mod that wants nukes on this map. Please take it out so that we don't have to deal with these piece of shit punks that want to ruin a potentially great game for 24 other players.

    On a realistic note, there is NO WAY in hell that any force would start using nuclear weapons in an urban environment. Besides killing their own players, the fallout would prevent any of their team from from doing anything at all.

    Bottom line: get rid of nukes.. I will bet my life that there aren't any serious players here that have played escort more than 5 times that would disagree with this

    this will be fixed in the future.. there needs to be big changes that make it so the mapper can choose what weapons and armors can be used

    i think a temp solution would be give BE less money and make it gen slower

    No real easy quick fix for the moment. Right now it's either no vehicles, low tier tech vehicles (aka paper) or everything is researched with wtfpwn boomtanks.

    We'll have to see if Krenzo wants to implement a mapper defined research availibilty system.

    Didn't we have a conversation about how hard flag 3 was to get?

    Yes we did. At least we have people on different sides complaining (read: we're probably not changing a damn thing).

    Hmm, so u can't specify which research BE starts with eh? lame balls.
    Can we make it so that there just aren't any heavy tanks? Med tanks can't fit nukes on them.

    Could we just try escort as a strictly urban map, no vehicles? Would have to change the ticket structure around, and maybe just have all the spawn points be at the flags but what a wicked ass epic urban map that would be.
    Also reduce it to 2 ppl per flag cap on either side.

    and call it CDR_Escort?

    To make that drastic of a change right now to a map is...

    It would be better just to make a new urban map, because escort was ballanced in mind of BE having veichles...

    :o OMG DON'T REMOVE NUKES FROM THE ESCORT! Nothing isn't more satisfying than blowing up two nuke tanks at 9 mine trick. Just get more revivers and you can easily beat nuke tanks until BE runs out of resources and they need to get cheaper vehicles.

    For example yesterday we had just fun, at least I had, blowing up nukes on NF side. Just use squad mass revive in the next RC 18 and escort is even better. (Currently mass revive is broken.)

    Flag 3 is a lot easier now that tank turrets can aim higher.

    I'll happily trade your satisfaction for the dissatisfaction of the rest of the team spawning and then 3 seconds later all dying from an explosion 8 miles away.

    Plus lets say it wasn't a lame n00b in that tank and someone with half a brain to be a gren with difuse who just drives over every mine you have unscathed

    That's why you need to pay attention to drop the 9th mine at correct time.

    I have several times dropped the 9th mine just at the right time even without any kind of visual vision about the enemy tank's position. You just need to feel the right moment.

    For example. I got killed on the third flag as NF and I have 8 mines placed and nuke tank kills me and then captures the flag because the driver has defuse and he can drive over my mines.

    When I spawn I just quickly drop the 9th mine and I listen the faint BOOM sound caused by the mines exploading and looking at my scores and kills and laughing how everyone got killed in it.

    You just need to pay attention to 9th mine and you need to know when to drop it.

    ya we won the round, but it still ruined the gameplay.. It was one massive scramble after another instead of intense give and take style gameplay. Just limited strategy when you know you are going to be dead in 5-6 seconds anyways from a nuke no matter where you are

    Defusal makes 9th mine a better tactic, but the chances of missing the time to detonate it are higher.

    Yes WE (NF side's players) did win it together.

    And about that one defused thing. Place two mines then. Same affect with one mine less. I have done it multiple times and I have destroyed nuke tanks multiple times by that.

    Sorry to tell you this weedy, but i don't think a skilled player was driving that nuke tank. I mean last time i was BE (and grenadier), the guy in the apc asked me to defuse all mines. So i did, and the apc simply advanced without a problem.

    A nuke tank driver would even be able to protect me by firing a nuke at my feet, killing all 7 people 10m further away.

    The only nuke tanks i have been able to take down, were the ones that came too close, which was a mistake from the driver. Only once did i manage to destroy a nuke tank that was behind the lines, and only because it was a group effort and there were no BE infantry in the neighborhood to take us down. We managed to reach the nuke tank. With extreme luck i might add, cause always 1 reviver survived his nuke with only a few hp, revived a second reviver - again luck - and both of them revived the rest of us, and for some reasone this worked 3 times, by which time we had reached the tank. All he could do was shoot his nuke at a wall, killing us, but hurting him as well. Again with some luck 2 times 1 reviver survived to revive us. With his last nuke he killed himself, and all of us. If there had been even one BE soldier it wouldn't have worked.

    I remember that match! we kept going invisible and assaulting the nuke tank between 2nd and 3rd flag?

    My thinking on the subject is that it should be difficult to take down a nuke tank, they're expensive for a reason. You can usually hear or guess when a nuke is coming, and half of the time you're usually in a good position to run to cover. On the match silk was talking about, I would launch a mortar at the tank from near 3rd flag spawn then run back into spawn when he shot the nuke, or run downstairs into the rooms there. I got hit maybe once in 6 shots? and by that time the tank was dead because he couldn't kill all of us and kept getting smoked by mortar shots.

    Either you hide from the nukes when they're launched (and they go slow enough it's possible) or make the tanker panic and shoot a wall close by.

    A good tank with a good team should be able to sneak by, but who's to say a couple good arty skill strikes can't turn the tide?
