Steam Store: http://store.steampowered.com/app/17710/ Looks like a highly polished but still very similar version of Empires.
It's been around for ages. They pulled vehicles from the initial release anyway. To be honest, I'm glad it's coming out. It'll pull more people to the genre, but it's a very different game to Empires. If it's reasonably priced, I'll probably buy it and maybe learn a bit more. It may even cause Valve to add some more features that RTS/FPS game modes could take advantage of.
It's not really at all like empires as far as I'm aware, if anything it seems closer to quake wars enemy territory.
Two distinct factions: the Empire and the Consortium Four playable classes, each with customizable kit load-outs, plus the commander role lolwat
the one faction has a communist symbol and everyone has a russian accent. why do people still insist on making video games where the plot is centered around america vs russia, there are more countries to choose from gawd.
No jeep factory, No thanks. Some of those screenshots look pretty. I wonder what the commander gets to do.
click "repair" apparently what was up w those red laser towers? it seems like the floating boxes follow those? that seems lame as hell. GO SET UP CELL PHONE TOWERS SO I CAN SEND YOU GUYS CHINESE FOOD BOXES
Empires is Immortal, with a capitol I, you fools. This is coming from a top-notch necromancer: The only way to "kill" Empires is to reincarnate it, and that's just another way of living forever.
Weren't Nuclear Dawn gonna have airplanes? But then they said they would focus on infantry and tank combat first so we didn't get worried. Something like that.
Because russians make awesome bad guys. And awesome good guys actually, if you make the nazis the bad guys. Russians are awesome in general really.
Probably function as a pylon, allows you to expand your map control and has a radius around it where structures can be dropped. Just guessing though from how they look, I don't really know. There are many rts games that have exactly the same or similar functionality, I doubt they'd reinvent the wheel, considering they've stolen pretty much everything so far.
I don't remember the original ND ever mentioning airplane, it's probably more like it was meant to be infantry and tanks, and they gimped or removed tanks to focus on infantry. I haven't spent much time reading their steam page, or their website, but the vehicles that were in the video looked scripted to me (awkward 90 degrees turn of the jeeps, super smooth tank movements), so I wouldn't be surprised, judging from the video, that tanks wouldn't be driveable. Again, I'm just guessing, I don't really know.
