what if the repair pad can make like "drones" (flying really weak npc controlled manhack sised robots) who can "build" stuff at a rate a player can build by pressing E (use) and that the comm can build them at a max of 5 cost 800 ea hp 75 coud be neat if you coud add like 1 plate of armor to it covering the whole drone has 1 engine slot (for flying faster i guess) no offencive capability's it woud make the comm less dependant of engineers when they are needed at the frontline or assist in building when there is lots to do comm can build at a slow rate, some turrets or walls to defend or very slowly repair a building or so etc... i know some woud think "teamplay" and "engineer class" woud be neglected then but really they woud be a great addition for the comm and wil not replace the engineer!
i do to! if they have plans for the repair pad then make the idea work on another building, like the armory
automated defence? yea... kinda but most inportant it will be so the commander can still add buildings to the base even if evryone is at the front/doing other stuff
there could be 3 types - Building drones (to build) Defence Drones (Come out in packs and are armed manhack - like weapons) and Assistance Drones ( Assist a player depending on their class ie Protector for engineers, Remote scouts (with limited fuel) for scouts, targeting drone (works like portable radar) for Grenadier and Assault drone (has an SMG) for rifleman Each Assistant drone would cost a lot of resorces to create, and would require a certain skill/research to use, but would be customisable like veihcles.
hmmm yea this coud work only it woud drain lots and lots of cpu and make lag cous then you need to have a complex ai while when they are yust engineering drones they fly to a target and keep shooting at it
