Basically I've made some cloud effects, they're untested mainly, blizzerd is hooking them into a quick demo map right now, anyway, the effects are spawned inside your skybox, and hopefully, fingers crossed, your map has cool effects in the sky! As you can see, they're fairly subtle. Their main function is to make your skybox less static, they move slowly south, I believe. We have for your enjoyment: Sunny Cloudy Overcast and Storm Effects, each more dark, scary and in the storms case, electrical than the last. Simply put these files into your particles folder: Particle file temporarily removed, they're currently too expensive and too small. New version soon! http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/516743/particles_manifest.txt Add them to your res list. Add a particle spawner a few units above your skybox camera. ??? Profit? The stuff is pretty rough at the moment, I'd like some criticism on them. (Not you Chris, I know you can make your own.)
You generally need to test skybox effects in the skybox, it magnifies the expense considerably when they're that large.
Yeah, I'm still sorting stuff out. They're getting there. Storm is looking like it may need to be cut. the other are pretty fine though.
Actually he does know how to use the particle editor, in some areas probably better than me, as we have been doing different things so we develop different areas of knowledge.
Chris can make great particle effects for maps, but I know quite a bit about the more advanced stuff you can do with code support. (electrical arcs based on a props hitbox anyone?)
