So it is that time again. I was working on an idea that when aircraft ever get implemented it would be to easy for aircraft to trap the CV, so I started an early version of a Northern faction Command Ship which could fly around the map, and sct as a mobile command center, similar to the Battlefield 2142 titan. It is based a little around the highwind from Final fantasy 7, and some original designs of my own. At first I was going to use a blimp idea, and maybe still might.
didnt you need to capture some shield or missile things in 2142? how would that tie into empires? that doesnt mean i dont like the idea, actually you could have buildable shield thingies you need before you can attack the command shit, for quite some res but with very little hp ofc - so that simple spam doesnt help much, theyd have to be spread out in more bases - and you get one by default. it could be some interesting gameplay element - especially one that limit premature direct comm assaults. but still, empires maps are tiny ... edit: oh also make the back the front :D this one ... edit2: hmm, maybe i got the dimensions wrong. this isnt the size of a 10 story building right? i should go play x3tc again ...
Not to be rude, but why don't you focus on the small things that Empires is currently in need of? Like the shotgun, a new model for the NF engineer (just needs to replace the head), a new NF barrack, etc. I think those things would have a much bigger chance of being added rather than this big plane that will probably be used only as a prop.
I actually did make a NF model for engineer, but I figured he was to extreme of a departure. It actually kind of hard designing NF armor, because there is not a lot of backstory around culturally what the jekotians are, dress or customs.
I liked the Highwind. I like your vehicle. But Dz has a point I guess, although you're developing for your own stuff so it doesn't matter either way. As for culture regarding Jekotian stuff, just ask Megel.
Get Hobbes into one, and you will be asking questions like "how did the flying command vehicle get walled in?"
I sexed up the design a little more, and added props to the model, also baked ambient occlusion just to make the modem stand out a little better.
won't spinning props add much more load to video cards + physics? Ohh and will they tilt forwards when you move forwards?
Spinning props aren't simulated, silly beans, that'd be like the center of the BE refinery being simulated (tip: it isn't)
ok, so they won't be simulated but, they will have insta kill boxes around the blades or can people jump through them with no issues? (yes, I am silly)
looks cool, but the areas I marked in red don't make sense to me. Wouldn't a real hover-plain designer try to give the rotors as least as possible stuff that can reduce the potential uplift that goes down trough the rotor?
Elitist, it's not easy to get hold of you, and I figure you're reading this thread. There's a guy called mgX who's been nagging me to get hold of you, and I think he sent you some PMs. If you get chance, could you just throw him a reply?
