That already looks better because you don't have a giant line down the middle. But yeah, I think mudbox is the one. I just remember Mayama saying.
Wow, omen, I can't laugh at jokes because I rarely consider them funny (except for dark/ black humor), but your work made my fucking day. Seriously, lol, go check up the google to see how HOMO SAPIENS SAPIENS skull looks like, stop making weird erecto-like things :D Of course one could use them in some weird maps, where brenodi forces fight NF in clones gone wrong lab.
the first models are in xsi, to model symmetrically you clone then translate -1 it gives you a nice big line down the middle. yea, yeah i know i suck at people modeling -
Well, honestly, it's rare people try that as their first thing. It's known to be one of the hardest types of modelling, so props to you for trying. I personally think it's a bit of a waste, especially when most of the facial modelling in empires is just a texture from what I can tell, and that there are far easier things that need remodelling. But like I said, props to you for trying. I just wish someone would go for the NF rax or some shit.
i really want modeling to become my hobby as now i havent got any hobbies. character modeling is very time consuming - so ill try something else on the side.
Learning animation would be awesome. And if you do find a way to learn, show me. I never really found any straightforward guide that didn't require a tonne of prior knowledge of 3DS max.
When modeling characters, I think you usually start with lined up imageplanes from the front and side and place them in your viewports and gradually build up your character. Try and learn the basics first, it easily gets overwhelming if you try something like this right of the bat. This site got some pretty good, easy to understand tutorials: http://www.guerrillacg.org/
If his head wasn't so big and alien like and had that receding hair line like the actual person then it would kind of resemble him.
ÜBER basic guide it wont teach you about spines or any of the harder stuff... but even a retard can do those basics he show. once ya have done that, move on to a serious rigging tutorial... after that move on to a serious animation tutorial where they teach ya to do more fluid motion and certain animation tricks. *cough* in my case the later 2 involved pirate bay. Enjoy. Edit: however, if your desire is to re-animate the current empires models then you can skip step 1 and 2 since they are pre-rigged. and instead look at the 3ds max start tutorial in animation instead of those 2. F.ex. you could... oh i dont know... remove the THIRD arm of players perhaps?
its merely an example. something i got requested to do before which i know someone really wanted is a remake of the reload process of the scout rifle in order to allow it to use diffrent firing rates and allow it to be semi auto/full auto for script testing.
omen, i like the idea behind this all but i UBER LOL'D at it since it does not look shit like jason statham xd it looks lik a person that got his face stretched out or something :p
Dizzy told me that the animation of the models are totally fubar and should be completley remade, rigging included iirc.
