They are generally outplayed at the absolute way late game when you've researched every type of missle and rocket avalible and BE has PLASMA and RAIL cannons, so using either absorbant or composite is hard, is their any way to counter this?
True, but do you expect you're drivers to use these when they bitch for nukes and use that along with UGMLs and composite.
Well... For 2.24: It seems to me that if BE manages to get early in the game MARK II with ER, fusion engine and reactive armor its a sure win (unless they run out of resources or ninja racks). But from the research standpoint it seems that by the time BE gets this, there is no strong counter part in NF to fight them. After that is just a cascade of events. Heavies with dual ER, nukes.. all in the same tree and really quick to get. I would looooove if we could get server stats to fine tune the balance of the game. Steam does this all the time with TF2 (and party baloons... we should do cookies!!!)
in 2.12 it was NF better in early, BE in late game (superlights vs railheavies basically) then at some point mk2s were introduced because after the armor buff in 2.2 NF dominated early game too much (or at least it was said so). now DUMG APCs pwn lights way too easy, IStd CN is also a great weapon - mix that with broken reflective and the outcome is dualER heavies that pwn everything. its also way faster to get heavies as BE as everything is nicely packed into one research tree, and fission can support 2xER pretty well ... we can only hope for 2.25 i guess ...
