Just watched the new star trek movie.
First I was a little bit skeptical because of all the Beverly Hill 90210 looking actors. But now I must say that this movie is really awesome.
They keeped enough old things and added a good portion of new things. The story was never boring and there was enough to laugh about.
The only thing I missed was the main music theme from last star trek movies.

Jerry Goldsmith is dead, so a change in music was expected.

Anyone else notice how fuzzy/out of focus some of the scenes towards the end of the movie were (when the two spocks talk, Nimoy is way out of focus.)

Yes this was strange. Maybe the camera man had a bad day and Nimoy already left the set so they had to use the blurred scenes.

Loved the movie. Storyline was good, even if it does piss off die-hard Trekkies.

New age, new potential audience to turn into trekkies. The old star trek formula certainly wasn't working anymore (gee, wasn't working since TNG went off the air?) - until Enterprise seasons 3&4, but it was doomed by then.

I hope they don't redo the orignal TV series, but rather stick with movies for a little bit. Don't remake too much, and for the love of god, they better not try to remake TNG movies or TV shows. (and certainly don't try to remake Wrath of Khan.)

Remakes will doom Star Trek I think.

I hate how they used time travel to retcon everything.

Meh, bringing in Nimoy was a throw to older trekkies. Lets hope they don't let Shatner back in :)

The correct term is "fanwank" I believe.
It's not Trek without someone speaking shatnerian.

Film was funny. It was good with the action, and it almost made sense. When I say make sense, I mean the actors acted realistically. Kirk was a cocky ass hat for example, and no one liked him cept the doc.

    >.< He's right, they were all assholes.

And even better yet, that's the only reason this movie is so much better than other star trek movies.

I saw this film yesterday can say it is a very good film even if you don't particularly like star trek.
