Since the release of v2.0 I have not once seen or heard anything about new maps being added in Empires. Just wondering, can we expect any? Sorry if this is an annoying question, I understand that the developers are hard at work with other things.
There isn't really that much of a mapping community for the mod. The devs do include custom maps if they're good and the mapper doesn't mind, and there are quite a few maps in the game.
well, they are working on levels for aircraft atm, so im sure when that's done they might do one or two. By the way, the screenshot of the aircraft cockpit, the map that was taken in looks awesome. I can imagine fighter dogfights in the gully, would be sooo freaking awesome :D
chris0132's map seems to be the next great classic but I would like someone make another escort type map before the aircraft maps take over
I don't have screenshots as readily for them, but emp_atol, emp_badlands, and emp_railroad are pretty done.
Two words: ME WANT! And you can add emp_midbridge_b1.bsp to that list, althought it's screwed up for me (no minimap, so I can't spawn).
Smokies seems very promising, definately one i want to try. The frost map has a few shadow problems, which no one has been able to fix in ... 5 months. The vehicle map is pretty much done, but i'm trying to add soundscapes to it (with no succes i might add) and as all my maps (including frost) it has that underwater glitch problem. I'm very busy right now (untill the easter holidays) so it'll still be a while, and unless someone can help me with the problems i've been having it won't ever get finished. Also note that frost is a typical bottleneck map, and won't be enjoyed by everyone. I haven't played the king map yet, but the things i've been hearing about it are all pretty positive. atol looks nice, but i haven't tested it yet ingame (except speccing in an old version). So since i don't know how it will play i can't comment on it, but at the very least it will be something different. The only part i don't like that much is the huge bridge. I still think badlands is only a mediocre map. Personally i'd use the map as a part of a bigger map, by adding more areas around it. Having said that i do enjoy the map as it is now. I just think it can be much better i'm not a fan of railroad because it's so open, but that's just my personal taste, just as i don't like streetsoffire because it's not open enough Yes it's difficult to satisfy me. I haven't yet paid any attention to other maps, but i've heard many more names than the few listed here in the past few months.
those maps (and smokies) look fantastic. I want vehicle training to be an official map with standard settings! people can still choose to train vehicles on it if they want! it's so pretty though.
