Empires seriously lacks new game modes. I suddnly thort of this while reading the mini-gen thred. Now the idea is a work in proggress so i expect skeptisisam: Type one (injection money): Each team begins with so much res (as usual) but insted of of refs u have a pre-determand amount of money given to the team every pre-determend time (e.g. 1min). But teams have to take territory and get bonus for the amount of territory they own. Also the team get money for kills and lose money if killed (mabe) which i feel will make battle MUCH more intence. :D :D Pros: MORE INTENCE GAMEPLAY ADDS A BIT MORE VARIATY TO THE GAME MORE GAME MODES YAY! Cons: Probably lots of codeing Balanceing (but thats more up to the mapper) Alternative: Could split the ideas into differant game modes :D:D:D:D:D:D
Most of that can be done in maps without needing new entities, it might even be possible to give and take resources based on kills by just using standard entities.
Thats why i said mabe in brakets next to it. LOL would be nasty lerning curve. lose ur tank, lose res, team hate u :p But i suppose it might be ok if it was only a very small amount. Wouldnt have a big effect if ur deths are small but would have a huge effect in the long run. The loseing res part is still a mabe, would take balanceing
It would be a bit annoying if only one person on a team gets any kills, but everybody else keeps buying vehicles with his hard-earned kill money. You might need to implement some sort of restrictions.
On the whole 'lose res for being killed'. Makes more sense to me to lose res on respawn, so you don't lose res on revives.
This could be for maps like escort. BE has a fixed starting amount of money and very slow increase in money. as for the name: How bout Conquest? I think this game mode would work best for a very defined attacking defending role type gameplay, where the team with the most flags gets the most influx of res, but as one team pushes outward, they get more res as the distances and time increase to moving to the front. Again, this sounds a lot like escort cept with both teams having a vf
I might add, this would make a TERRIBLY boring map too comm. going comm with low rez is boring, all you do is mark targets and think about how terrible your life is at that moment.
To balance this each team by defult would start with quite an amount of res to make it good for the comm (e.g. 5k) this would allow the team to get started and also like i said there would be an injection of res every 1min or so. There would be a basic injection (e.g. 1.5k every min) and then for every peace of territroy that ur team owns there would be a bonus for the injection. But dont forget, ur team gets money for each kill and the bigger the kill (e.g. Heavy tank) the more money the team would get. It has been said that it would be harsh if 1 guy was earning all of the kills and the money was being spent by the rest of the team but if u think about it, the more kills he/she gets the more tanks/aps/aircraft(soon) can be mobalised to the battlefield. Would encorage a HUGE amount of teamwork. Also dont forget that comm could be made more enticeing by giveing the comm more of a role on the battlefield. ALL RTS's give the comm the call in special abilitys such as airstrikes...etc. Why not on empires!! Solokiller i think that u must be very busy but could create a simple test map with these fetures in and tell us what u think. :D:D:D
