Alright, every tree has an MG except for EE.

So I suggest separating the idea of rails into rail cannons and rail MG's.

Rail MG would be a low RoF MG, both 2 and 3 slotted variants, with low magazine and high damage.

instead of listing things out in a spiel, let me make a "script" for how it could work.

With the weapon type, that would be a new resist type, where tank armors would get .5 resist, while infantry have no resist. Since this weapon is purely kinetic, maybe give reflective armor a higher resistance to this gun, and absorbant a lower resist.

For those of you who ask "why a new gun?", the answer is mainly just because we could.

So far for Mg's, we have Tank damage, Infantry Damage, Special damage with bio and plasma, Tank AND building, but not tank damage AND infantry damage MG's (Bio doesn't count because it doesn't really damage anything directly).

It should be called the GauseGun or something. Anyways, shouldn't absorbant be more effective against kinetic energy because its made to absorb the energy?

I don't think absorbant needs nerfs

    1) that was an example

    2) absorbant absorbs blunt impact damage, not piercing damage imo. It's designed to take cannon shells, not small bullets.

But isn't part of cannon's power in it's momentum? Railguns shoot highly dense bullets that maybe small but go very fast

Stopping a blunt object and a piercing object are 2 different things. Shoot a piece of metal with a solid bullet, and then shoot it with a cannon ball. The cannon ball will probably put a rather large dent in it, but the bullet, if it is of sufficient density, will go right through it.

so, this is effectively sniper DU due to its high accuracy?

no. High drop off for damage at long ranges.

    "Falloff" "2500"
    "Falloffbase" "0.7"
    "MinimalDamage" "12"

Falloff 70% should probably be less, but whatever. right now it's set to hit 70% of max damage at 2500 units.

So, the only MAJOR difference between this and DU is that this one fires more slowly with more damage per shot, and does damage to infantry?

seems a reasonable amount in difference

what about making DU the low distance one, and this the high distance?

-_-'' I was kinda tired last night, but couldn't sleep. that lead to the new research tree suggestion and this tidbit :P
