New Art and a new Coder for Empires. Hello, I'm Brutos and I joined the development team of Empires recently. I've already done two things: Reenabled the old code that saves the current players stats for the round, so you don't loose all the point you gained during the round, if you happen to crash. The first Spawn will be free, so even if you join a round of emp_district very late, you will be able to still participate in this round. I bring even more news: The community formed a semi-official Art Team. They are trying to bring Empires into the year 2009 from the graphical point of view. I can present you some of the (still unfinished work) that the community Member Mayama made during the last weeks: Left Lowpoly Brenodi Medium Tank; Right: Highpoly Brenodi APC. I have also some concept art for the upcoming Empires Aircraft and other Units to show to you, made by Zenarion: Less impressive but maybe even more important: The coding team has been optimizing the current code, that means that Empires Server will be able to have even more tanks on the battlefield at the same time with less lag then we have today. If you have any suggestions regarding the art, leave us a comment. If you think that you are good enough to help out in the Art Team, let me know. This is a great chance for both to stock up your portfolio and make many members of our community happy. Source
Nice idea of moving the blogs to the forums so that we can all post to them, i love the new tank designs
The new tanks and player model look great. I like the idea of not losing a score if you leave the game and rejoin, and kudos for optimizing empires, it will be great to be able to add more tanks to our servers and not have lag. Any date yet when the next version will be out?
Awesome artwork. I hope the Brenodi infantry retain the Stahlhelm and protective glasses, though. They are very characteristic in creating the imperial, emotionless look.
I'd prefer to have at least the protective glasses. They give the soldiers indeed nicely emotionless and heavily industrial look.
No; I'm interested in militarism in all forms. Germans weren't the only ones to execute militarism with style; Soviet militarism had image, too, as did almost every self-respecting nationalist state back in the day. That's not to say I actually approve of the regimes. Also, the Stahlhelm wasn't a Wehrmacht invention. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stahlhelm Poles wearing it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dzialon_armaty_PPanc_wz_36.jpg I like it because it is a symbol of aggression and oppression in a way.
