Yeah I don't get it either.

If you nerf it more it won't be much better than health upgrade and what's the point in a slightly better health upgrade which drains your stamina and only works when stationary and crouched/prone?

It was already nerved from 50% to 25%.
So I choose health upgrade before dig in. (30% more health vs. 25% less damage taken)
No need the nerf it even more.

The main point about dig in is that it stacks with health upgrade, so yeah it makes you damn tough when you sit still with both skills, but considering the bonus two skills can give you in any other class that's not unusual.

Problem is that people will take dig in + health upg + HMG which is a deadly fucking combo. HMG on it's own already chews through infantry. It also removes part of the agresive and fast gameplay empires is supposed to have.

and an engineer with turret and repair upgrade is better for aggressive and fast gameplay?

A engineer can build the turret and go elsewhere. The rifleman will stay there.

that's even worse. the engineer doesn't even have to be there anymore. at least the rifleman has to sit and defend if he's gonna camp like that.

Yeah but you can't advance with it.

If you run straight into a HMG rifleman with lots of skills you're going to suffer for it, because that's what the HMG does.

But there's nothing to stop you going wide and shooting him with either of the other two rifleman weapons, they both work at far longer range than the HMG.

Exactly, HMG riflemen are very similar to turrets, you don't bumrush them. You can smoke them, or conc them, or snipe them, or nadespam them from behind walls.

it sounds like ba'al has got a thing against the HMG. Perhaps he should suggest a change to the HMG instead of dig in.

The turret doesnt kill you with a few shots. The turret has to be built. The turret has a larger hitbox. And the turret won't go prone and empty an entire clip into a squad in a few seconds.

Neither does the rifleman unless he's point blank, and what the hell does a hitbox have to do with it? Turrets are IMMUNE TO BULLETS. Riflemen are not.

The only way you can mow down a whole squad is by getting behind them at close range, and if you can do that then you should get the kills, it works with the HMG, the AR to an extent, grenades, scout melee upgrade, squad arty, lots of things.

I also don't see what even a complete removal of dig in would do to prevent that, HMG riflemen as with all classes wipe out squads by surprise, not by being hard to kill. Dig in won't save you from being shot if you get discovered while trying to kill a squad.
