I would like to see squad chat and color added to the chat system. Its hard enough trying to follow orders when crazies are arguing about stupid non-empires things flooding the chat. Is it possible to block out the community chat and just have the chat you need like team, squad, and commander. Im not saying get rid of community chat just for those who need a serious game here and there should be able to play without nonsence going on.
Maybe a server function, or maybe client-side options can be set to only recieve chat from comm and squads
Indeed. Or, as an alternative, two diffrent places for chat, since if someone is being a freak and spamming, it won't scroll your squad mate's chat into oblivion. This way, you can pay attention only to your squad chat. Kinda like in MMO's with diffrent chat boxes.
That would be a great idea like by default it would be on "all chat" (see what everyone is saying including people using teamchat) & then you could switch around to "team chat" (only see what your team is saying in team chat)
wooo colours, no need for the acid then :p i think (i say i think ive completely stolen this from battlefield 2) that a seperate button for squad chat might cut down the amount of irrelevant information someone reads and encourage proper squad participation, would be quite nice if there was a way of doing the same with voice comm too
then we would just need an easier way to enter squads and ensure that everyone is in a squad. I think that it would be cool if stat-tracking could provide us with automatic squad leaders, based on rank. Of course that's a bit of a sticky issue and a long way off at any rate.
In game commander should decide who is in which squad. Not player with highest rank. So I vote for assigning to squads by commander. Easier to implement.
yeh and also allowing commanders to name the squad "Commander has assigned you to the BUILDTHEFUCKINGTURRETYOUF*GGOT squad"
it would be kinda cool if you could name your squads eastside squad and westside squad. But it wouldnt work, there would be no representation of it on the (mini)map and a commander usually doesnt have the time to name his squad and even if he did it wouldnt have much use
Can't you just implement making and joining squads into the spawn menu? This idea has nothing to do with BF2, we are not having an affair...
BF2 has nothing like that, BF2 is a nice puzzle 'em up, no squads and guns in Battlefield, ever, no, no.
