why would a rifleman use any other weapon than a rifle? why wouldn't a grenadier use a weapon called a 'grenade launcher?' why would you ever remove the mortar from empires?
Because the mortar is the reason nobody will let the grenadier assume the antitank role. The mortar is primarily antiinfantry the rifleman is primarily antiinfantry A grenade launcher can behave similarly to a mortar and people who 'only play because of the mortar' can still have their niche weapon, and a grenade launcher is much easier to balance because it can have a clip rather than a single shot and a ridiculous reload time. And what the fuck do the class names have to do with roles. The engineer heals people, the rifleman fights tanks up close, the grenadier has no grenades and the scout has no real scouting capabilities.
How so. Giving the rifleman another antiinfantry tool would fit his role. It's like giving another healing spell to a priest in an RPG, rather than giving it to a rogue.
There's a religious sect within the empires community that seems to believe that "grenadier" is synonymous with "anti-tank guy." Who am I to tell you that your god doesn't exist? Besides, you religious types don't respond well to logic and reason.
It's funny because to me it seems the other way round, with religious fanatics who are terrified we do anything to their utterly 'unique' arcing weapon.
First you wanted to just move it to the rifleman, now you want to "do something" to it? Make up your mind.
So it would be the same weapon if I weakened it's damage increased it's splash removed ducking and added a clip.
keep ducking part its silly you can fire a cannon from the hip(because its more a cannon then a launcher)
nothing to do with "realism" as the empires arguement, more to do with the fact that tanks arent painted pink ether and rockets cannot be used as mounts to travel large distances and "rain down" on your opponents as infantry
non sequitur. tanks aren't painted pink because that would be annoying and gay. infantry riding rockets into combat, though, should be in empires 3.0.
Oh picled... its true, you are probably more educated then me something i sadly never got the chance for, and i will make sure my children will get the chances... but do note that being "educated" does not automatically mean you are better at something, or better in general, or in total a better person seeing at how you argue here, its kind of amazing how little you actually stated, and how much friction that caused with the active people in this thread you even succeeded in pissing me off, and few people (not even chris) have ever succeeded in doing that in the empiresmod community (game, forum and irc included) im not saying you are wrong in your statements, i do that in another post, this post is more about your methods of debating, and how contraproductive they are... basically whatever your next post is... even if it explained how i would be able to turn shit into gold bars, il never ever be able to even read it once without being generally sceptive and annoyed with your chat
