I think certain maps should have wooden crates that spawn randomly on the map every 10minutes. These crates will USUALLY benefit you or your team. The positives would occur 90% of the time. Finding a crate and breaking it open would give the one that broke it, one of the following: Full HP Full Ammo A Jeep An APC A Light Tank/AFV 1-1000 personal wage 1-1000 team resource Entire Team Full HP Entire Team Full HP Entire Team Full Vehicle Repair etc etc Sometimes the crates would yield negative results, about 10%. The negatives would mostly affect single person (the one that opened it). Like: HE grenade explodes in face BioML explodes in face Vehicle 100% overheat if in vehicle Team loses 1-10,000 resources Lose personal wage Lose stamina etc etc The purpose of this is to give boring, same map.. a sense of dynamic and fluidity. Same bullcrap on maps like slaughter. There needs to be some uncertainty to make things interesting. A scout could sneak into enemy territory, doing scout stuff. the scout could run into a crate in enemy territory. sabatoge a crate to make negative be 90% and positive be 10%. *edit* yes like in command and conquer, now that i think about it.
This is a pretty hardcore game. The community likes consistency and replayability. It's not that this is a bad idea, it's just not for Empires. And that's before it gets killed by the lack of dev resources.
10% chance to die and remain dead for the rest of the round... Better things for code team to work on Needs art. Better things for the art team to work on. Also hell no. Once research gets balance away from being so predictable there will be more variety in rounds.
Ally, darling, you're slipping. This one is triple dead. Requires code support and new art and the designer doesn't like it.
To quote Alucard on a round of slaughtered stalemate SBEND heavy fight. "Now you wish we had mystery boxes, huh?" My always joyfull and supporting response. " Alucard you stupid mutherfucker, get the fuck out of this game and go play WOW."
mystery boxes isn't an rpg thing, it's an arcade fps thing. like random spawning stuff around the map ever heard of that, or have you never played quake or time splitters before?
Mario Kart? Dune 2? 2000? Tiberian Sun? Any other westwood/cnc game for that matter? also, ban alucard already ffs.
is it more feasible to have an aircraft that acts as glider drones? the drone is launched from a launcher and it is remote controlled in a panel next to the launcher. it goes to the top of the sky box, just below it slightly. the user can guide the glider left and right and can pan around with the camera to view/aim. however, the user cannot change altitude and the glider will lose altitude over time until it crashes. it's weapon is a standard ML. it would have no armor.
Empires is a competitive game which means the uncertainty and fluid gameplay is supposed to be provided by player actions and collective team decisions. Remember that crossroads game where I tried to squad rev alpha at the NME comm, except I turned out to be a gren and then you just drove up and killed their comm? I literally killed my whole squad by opening a crate of derp and you found a crate full of comm rush and the entire game was decided because of it. Empires already has boxes of random shit and C&C superweapons because we are those things.
