In research tree: mechanical engineering -> upgraded chassis -> motorcycle Motorcycles would be cheap (cost around 50), fast (jeep speed, or faster) but even more vulnerable than jeeps (no armor). One or two places. Speed should be affected if more than one. Perhaps make the driver fly out of the vehicles when taking high impact damage, or hitting the ground after falling a lot? Would be a pretty cool touch IMO. The commander could research these to allow eg. scouts to do their job without buying expensive jeeps. They could be fun in emp_escort. Perhaps a few automatically respawning motorcycles would make things interesting in emp_district?
As much fun as it would be to ride a motorbike, all I see happening is them becoming the new jeep, i.e. spammed by players who want a one-way ride to the battlefield.
I personally think adding motorcycles would be a waste of time, since they would just end up effectively being faster weaker jeeps that can fall over and can't carry as many people so don't really add to much to gameplay.
what if u made the engy (or maybe scout) be able to spaun 1 motorcycle for free (yust as a turret) i personally prefer scout spauning it it woud be so cool! and strategic, even before a vehicle factory is made the scout can get there quikly!
I like the motorcycle idea. Motorcycles have been used in WW1 and WW2 .. usually with a sidecar (googled.. i don't know what it's called) for fast troop transport and scouting, or as a "cross machine" for scouting only. IMO it has following - Disadvantages: Passenger / Driver very exposed to enemy fire. Easily destroyable / unarmored. Maximum of 2 Passengers (non driver might be able to fire his gun) Passengers might die on collision, take a lot of damage atleast. Unarmed. Advantages: Fast and Light. Hard to hit. Manouverable (sp?) Can drive up steep slopes at rather high speed. Stunts. Cheap. Cannot get stuck (should be designed that way). Cannot "die" because lying on the upside down. From a gameplay perspective it's nothing more than a cheap, fast, small jeep. Adding some diversity without requiring lots of rebalancing.
I honestly don't know how practical or realistic it is, but the idea of motorcycles in Empires is just too cool for me to let go. >;P Hope we see it.
I'm with you guys, Motorcycles all the way! It would be especially cool if they would tilt and if ragdolls could inherit momentum from the motorcycle. It would be awesome if your motorcycle gets blown up and you go tumbling across the ground.
i woud suggest not to add a sidespan, a sidespan makes it to mutch a jeep and like i say'd let it be created by a scout same way an engineer makes ammocrates but at a max of 1, and maybe a skill for it
What about some kind of rocket that is fitted to the bike (just two) with high tech looking ones for the BE and just a tube for the NF. And yea motorbikes would be great, and early games would be massive bike wars!
I dunno, guys. I can see this really getting whored. Plus, I think it puts too much emphasis on the individual zipping off and winning the game him/herself. Empires doesn't just emphasize teamplay, it's a RTS, for Christ's sake. So my vote here is "nay."
A buildable, scout-spawned motorcycle would be really great! Better than my original idea! You could only have one (per scout) at a time and it would have to be built first.
so it woud make scout and engineer working together ! = teamwork = good! = they shoud have come to this idea way before!
more like: n00b scout - "Give me a bike som1!!!!1" Engineer - "Stfu we need refs" n00b carries on pestering untill he gets a bike He then procedes to lose control of bike and ram into comm Which flips over (it really is the funniest thing EVER when this happens, ask Jimather) n00b - "can i have another bike plz?"
if he wants a bike, he shoud become scout! then he can make one of himself and drive thatone in to the comm vehicle
