i like the pace at which we earn skills but we usually max out really quickly as of 2.31. we need walking tanks
it's too easy to get kill assists, so i think that we should make it take more points to get skills actually.
This. Although I'd like to see a redesigned system with different skills costing different amounts at some point.
it does work like that. 2 "critical" assists is one point. 3 "normal" assists is one point. of course, idk how they work, but i will say this: i fired on pistol into sgt. security as i was rounding a corner that did 29 damage. 30 seconds later, a scout killed him, and i got an assist for that.
I've always wondered how more effective a class is if it had all general and class skills compared to the same class but with only one skill. The immediate thought that probably jumps into everyone's heads is "Engineers," but maybe the other classes would not be so overly powerful.
So, this thread made me think about possible new skill boundaries. At first, people would think 15, 30, 45, or 20, 40 and 60. But in my opinion, your 2nd skill is important. It's what lets you really start to specialise in your actual class. Engy rep/rev, etc etc. So I was thinking, 10, 30, 60 instead. Thoughts?
Ok, I guess I'll get a few scoreboard shots at the end of the round and time how long the round lasted, so I can work out how far people get.
the thing is, most of the time when you're at around 50 or 60 skillpoints, there's no real reason to be on foot anymore unless you're really good at killing higher tier tanks. but since the assist system gives people more points faster, it works out better.
I like the first, but if second skill (15) was like it is now (10). Maybe starting at 10, it goes with intervals of 15.
So 10, 25 and 40? Problem is, you get to 40 really quickly now, let alone 30, especially with assists.
0, 10, 30, 50, 95, 150, 225? But with the limited amount of skills we have currently, it's going to be a bit..drab. What I think would be fun is to increase the infantry aspect of Empires. Infantry defines the first few minutes of a game, but their usefulness is more than halved towards the late game. More skills could definitely help. And not more as in additional skills slots, more as in skills to choose from.
