Would it be possible to implement some entity which would allow amounts to be added/deducted from a faction's funds?
I think this would make objective-based maps more rewarding.

The only way to do it currently is to set a resource point to give, say 1000 points per second, and set a limit of 1000 points max. This is a bit of a hack though, and still requires a ref being built on the node.

you mean sometihng like a flag capture point that would give you a set bonus as oposed to a increase in res/sec? if so i would be down for it.

I mean an entity for mappers to use, which would automatically add/remove res in response to an input.

This could be the capture of a flag, the destruction of an object, or just about anything else.

no because i think that would just over weight the balance.
imagine - the teams are set appart from ewach others cash wise buy... say 500 quid - not alot
3 flag captures in 2 secs @ 1k is alot more tanks to contest with...

Or, another annoyance would be somebody just driving quickly to the rear of the other teams map and capturing flags just 4 cash

Kzin: it's mapper task to balance the map.

I like this idea. It could bring supply dumps into play. Destroying would remove the opponents resources but if you manage to capture the sight (like a flag beside it) then you'd gain the resources. Maybe have the resources as a % of the opponents total resource amount.

Maybe have a supply dump at each flag point. whenever you take control of one your resources are split between them. This would be a good thing because then the enemy wouldn't be able to destroy or capture all of your resources in one go.

It would make a very interesting map. Krenzo please look into this. It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to program in such an entity.

No. :P Even if it wouldn't take away enemy's resources.

To clarify, the 1000 for a flag cap was merely an example. This would not be the sole use of this entity, were it implemented. A mapper could use it literally any way they wanted. You could deduct money from a team for looking at the sky, you could pay people for pushing a button, or standing in a box, literally anything you can think of.

Overbalancing is not an issue here, for as m00tant said, that is the mapper's job. Limiting what the mapper can do just because it might unbalance the game is silly. I could have BE start with 50x L3 ML and 50x L3 MG if I wanted to right now, all surrounding the NF spawn. Clearly, this would not make a good map.

And values should definately be absolute, not percentages. The idea of this entity would be to provide a more flexible system for the mapper to work with in order to create the most interesting maps possible.

I think this would be useful to make some objective driven maps with.

Just make sure the entity checks if the subtraction will send the team's resources into the negatives or not. I could forsee something simple and easily forgettable like that being overlooked.

could be very interesting. I can picture two facilities with money dumps, where the teams can drive up to the dumps with trucks and either bring some back to their own base or blow the lot up :D

Next thing you know, they'll be implementing chinooks that drop nets to pick the supplies up and transport them back to your supply center so that your dozer can make that shiny new scud launcher... :P

    you mean Particle Cannon? :p

I say res should be given if you do some sort of a stunt... Like jeep jumps or HUGE falls that you somehow survive...

Perhaps the BE should have slow resource gain on... Escort, is it? The one with flags, not district. Then, make them get infusions of cash when they capture a flag (ONLY the first time they cap a certain flag, not each consecutive re-cap of the flag if the NF keep taking it back)
