Those people from that podcast say that they didnt even bother to try empires because they thought its boring.
I listend to that podcast and found it hilarius :D I found the part where one guy told everyone how he was so confused the first time playing that he got stuck in the base for 10 minutes, i mean, srsly? Run out the barrack, look at your map (that is bound to M by default, omg so advanced!) or just follow the rest of the team to the enemy and start shooting them! How exactly is above process complicated? How exactly is it even possible to fail that hard? Unless you have _Never_ played a FPS before (and perhaps he have not, in wich case his coment is somewhat irelevant in the first place) there is absolutly no way in hell you won't figgure out whats going on Granted, the commanding part of empires is pretty tricky to figgure out if you haven't participated in a game before, but the rest should be more obvius (have been for me all through the development process, and back then there wassen't even a manual :p) Supose it goes to show just how mainstream the internets have become ^_^
I'm glad everyone noticed that they hadn't played since 1.0, and everyone bothered to listen to the next podcast.
Also, why are you guys using the 2.0 trailer in the ModDB page =(. It shows the old HMG view model and a bunch of other outdated things. I.E. NFAR Fire Rate.
^we have 2.2 trailer? any major graphical updates? will anyone not playing the game see any difference?
Not necessarily, there's only one part of the trailer I'm worried about, and that's the first person views. See, it shows the fire rate of the NFAR, the various BE Assault Rifles (Not the Carbine), the old BE HMG view model, and well yeah.

apparently the moddb people feel much the same way about the game that we do: http://www.moddb.com/mods/empires/features/empires-bug-list
That article is a year old, and he is not anyone who works for ModDB. I think he did at one point though.
he makes good points, i see not a single point he mentions where i have not thought "this can be improved"
