Swat, Magnum, or Danner boots? Which one is most durable, light, and comfortable of the three? Or is there better? Plus, tell me your input if you've done any police work since these are more civilian side type boots.
If youre thinking Magnum elite leather then get the MarkII version if you dont intend to wear long sock or stuff you pants into them.
I usually wear the nylon with the wool over top to keep my feet from being beaten to shits. Just wondering whats a better buy so that's more comfortable to walk around, or run in all day.
Magnum is not that comfortable as far as suspension goes they are quite hard. They will save your angle from twisting, but fuck up your knees if your running on hard surfaces all the time.
I see people mostly buying swats, and the feedback is pretty good. However, I've heard Danner makes the best. Hard surfaces aren't a worry, as I'm mostly running in the dirt if need be. Though, sounds like they'll be great if you're clumsy in the dark, running in the bush, like me :D
I miss my old ecco boots. I had them for 6 years, I regret not trying to repair them as they had become a perfect fit.
I've only used Magnums but they were fairly awesome. I had some night exercises with the RAF and shit (cadets etc) and they were mainly used in woodland. I think they were just hardened leather at the end, but steel toecaps aren't usually an issue in terms of comfort. Also, never wear nylon socks or anything manmade, you'll regret it. Always use thick wool socks.
On the contrary - you should put thin nylon sock as the first layer, as it relieves the friction against your feet from wool fiber to skin contact. But over-top, put the wool sock, and what this will do would be to absorb the sweat and reduce the friction from boot to feet. It also acts as a slight cushion. Try it. You'll be surprised of the difference you'll feel. But remember, this is a temperate type wool sock and a very durable nylon that should feel almost like silk, but thin enough to let sweat through to the wool sock to absorb. This two sock layer works well in all sorts of weather. A thicker wool sock is recommended for the winter.
