Maintenance Tunnels

    Maintenance Tunnels
    Maintenance tunnels are not built by the team's commander but are instead automatically created during building construction to link buildings together for the sharing of electricity and geothermal gases. Due to its role of connectivity, it can serve as a safe passage to move from building to building within a base that is under siege, but it can also be utilized by enemy units for the purpose of guerilla attacks from within an enemy base. Without careful monitoring by a patrol unit or remote sensory equipment, it can also serve as an easy means of infiltration by utilizing a passing geothermal vent to dig into an enemy maintenance tunnel and create a stealthy entrance into the enemy base.

    Now when exactly will this be implemented? And also, what will these maintence tunnels look like because they will be mighty helpful for escaping artilery fire aimed at your base.

    Impossible because you can't create holes in the displacements.

    This was planned but is impossible with the map type.

    You would have to change the source engine code to do this. :/

    Let's modify the source so we'd have Empires do your homework and hand out candy at fairs.

    Actually the code was there, but due to mapping limitations we'd also have to implement a different mapping engine which would make it totally incompbatible with Hammer and anybody else interested in the mod.

    It's unfortunate, but scrapped for obvious reasons and there's no real purpose to linger on it.

    could be very interesting
    would make for nicer looking bases
    tunnels from the barrax to the armoury to the vf to the af and back again etc

    If hammer suports plugins, im sure someone could write one to work with the map type that you need.

    A what if possiblity

    So if tunnels could be placed above ground to connect buildings to buildings would that work then instead of having them underground? And if that is possible have doors open up and close to only that team, but still being able to sneak in by killing them as soon as they exit the door or using the scout for infultration purposes (Ohh, my god, an actual use for the scout other then using the scoped rifle :eek: ) mainly using the hide ability to be able to do this :cool: !

    Wow, atleast 2 other threads poped up after I created this one. Also, for a Empires designer or tester or whoever qualifies to answer this question is it possible to create a hole in the terrain as an entry way to a tunnel or have a system to link buildings close by with an above ground tunnel?? I guess then to expand on the second question is it possible to have doors that open and close while consumming little resources on the server/pc?
