knicked off another thread... thought it might get more noticed by the BOSS if it was its won thread. i.e: heavier missiles = shock tanks when hit / more impact (and realism without ruining gameplay) lighter tanks = same result as above, but might change gameplay in other area's aswell. *edit* can someone posta link to the other thread that mentions this, i cant be bothered
I have problems properly understanding what you mean. May be your spelling, may be the migraine I currently have. Can I ask for you to elaborate on what you mean?
when you say "heavier missiles", what you mean is "the missiles create more of a push when they expload" right? well, currently cannons and missiles knock infantry pretty far, so increasing that might just make things stupid. alternatively, we can make vehicles lighter. I think this is definately the way to go. having tanks that actually rock when hit by explosives, having jeeps that when they go over a bump get some air as they would do... it would be awesome. another way of looking at this is thinking: are our vehicles reacting the way they should? if you think they should notice if they've been hit by explosives, then perhaps we can change it so they do. ----------- you might want to add that if we make vehicles lighter (by a factor of 2, say), then we need to make the engines less powerful (by the same factor) or the accelleration will go through the roof... ----------------- also, if we make the vehicles weigh half as much, the phys push of mines should be half as much too, because currently that's quite a lot, and it works well.
I think he want's projectiles to transfer kinetic energy to tanks, rocking/pushing them on impact. If that's the case, I agree that the Railgun for example should do so, but not those slow standard cannon shells and missiles.
If you get hit in the face by a missle or a tank shell... It will either rip through you or push you really far away... (Or splode you into a million pieces) This might lead to exploits of the faster firing cannons; as in use them to push the tanks around; similar to that of the Tank jousting of the pre public beta...
All the vehicles have a gravity modifier on them, which increases the effect of gravity by 40%. At least, I think that's what it does Maybe if this was tweaked somewhat, you could get more air-ry jeeps.
jeeps won't be able to get under vehicles any easier because the jeeps themselves will not have as much momentum. anyway; used in conjunction with the jeep penalty when colliding, this could work (that is, that jeeps take substantial damage when colliding with enemy vehicles) ---------------- edit: at falcon- yeah, although i think it's more to regain reality than just to make the game look pretty
ok lighter veh's it is then sorry fr the confusion, people were right in thinking that i wanted to increase the effect of missiles on vehicles, i.e rocking them when they hit. i wasnt really interested in the effect on infrantry to be honest. just the idea of a tank rocking when the missile / canon hits it is really cool
why are people voting "heavier missiles" if that means that infantry are going to get sent flying miles across the map if implemented.
i dont think it would be too hard for tanks to climb turrets, would probably just need a vehicle only surface for it to drive on that covers the turret, like a ramp that only vehicles can use
