Ever since I updated to 1.06 empires has become nearly unplayable due to lag. I started at 1.05 and it was pretty good even with my ping hitting 300 on european servers, now I'm getting lag in all sorts of things that move (my own character moving/reloading/switching weapons, other characters and vehicles moving/shooting) everything just keeps warping back and forth. This seems to be map and server independent as I have tried in several different servers/maps.
Even the official server drops me under 25 now, and not like 20 or so, more like 5 to 10. Usually it lags, but I still make some nice FPS.
I have noticed a lot more rubber banding (1.0 style) but I only play on official server so I always figured it was to blame =/
There's something wrong with the 1.062 hotfix. My ping stays the same and packets loss status stays the same, but I still get heavy rubberbanding. This happened mainly in emp_escort(no one else seemed to have the 1.062 hotfix when I asked about it and no one else got any rubberbanding). It's not server dependend as far as I know as I got it on Stormed and ^Dee^ got it on official.
I havnt botherd getting the 1.062, but 1.06 even on a previously stable server skips (not the other players but my character's movement). Sure, its hideous on full servers as usual but now small population servers seem to be a little rickety.
could it be that removing that think thingy brought back the lag that it was in place to reduce? =o If so, I think I'd prefer sucky hitboxes to unable to hit anything at all
..you mean the problem with selected troops dissapearing and thus not being drawn once the they went out of netvisdist? Well, if it's ok with you, at least leave it fixed for comm, because it's nearly impossible to give orders without having them selected...
I didn't say that I want that reverted or anything. It's just related to cause of huge lag problems in 1.00.
Fixing the commander stuff only caused a slight increase in commander network traffic. Network traffic is not the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the cpu which is a shitty 3.0 ghz xeon on the official server.
This problem doesn't seem to be connected with the networking side at all. My ping and other network stuff stays the same during the rubberbanding. Oddly enough I only got it once today, this time in emp_slaughtered. No other people on the server. Two hours later I rejoined the server and played a couple of good rounds including one in emp_district402(didn't finish this, dizzyone joined just as I was about to leave). The round was hectic and no rubberbanding... I'm completely clueless on what causes this.
I too am confused. For me now that I have the latests patch 6-2.. I can't get into a tank without getting some kinda slight lag. More so on the turret then driving. It skips around when I turn the turret. Its not all the time too.. its like every few maps it does that. I havn't noticed it being all the time on the same map but it is very annoying. I too have checked my ping... a nice low 50's-80's.
