Basic Description Use the same highlighting system used in L4D for Infected players when a commander gives targets. Detailed Description When playing as Infected, players can see survivors through walls and floors with a glowing outline. All targeted players would appear in this way to the player(s) receiving the targets. Pros Easier to figure out where an assigned target is Looks more polished than the current target system Able to see enemy health levels through the outline color Cons Targets look even more like wallhacks Makes "hide around the corner in the trees" more pointless Did I mention they look even more like wallhacks?
Yes, please! Although copying from other mods/games is frowned upon here, the L4D targeting is the most effective and easy to use system I've seen for a FPS. You don't have to go as far as making it see through/behind walls, but it is simply a great system.
Have you ever took a bath with a toaster? Pros Looks cool Easy to do Requires only a few supplies Cons It fucking kills you
Cons: 1) Makes infantry combat more dependent on the comm 2) Adds more not less of what people on the ground hate - actually wanted a more inefficient wallhax.
To all of those who hate the idea of wallh4x in empires, this is not the place to be discussing if they should be in the game, they are in the game and you should voice your disapproval in a separate thread, one entitled Remove Comm's ability to give targets. As for the suggestion multiple glowing outlines at different distances away will overlap make it harder for the player to work out where the enemy is, but on the whole I like the idea and if wall hacks are to be kept then this will certainly make it nicer to use, perhaps this could be the norm for all spotted targets with the outline being red if you have received an attack order on the target. Perhaps a more general system could be applied to all orders, guard this structure highlights the structure and move orders similarly.
How about just adding a small distance number above the target reticule, instead of outline them? Problem solved without destroying everything
not to break your argument, but that probably wont kill you, fuses will blow and the water and drainage pipes would guild it into the earth although i am not certain enough to try it
If you plug the toaster into a GFI outlet, I think it'll just throw the outlet's internal breaker. HSM: Yet another sig worthy post
or... do the outline thing, but make it so you cant see it through walls. if the target is in the open you still get the advantage, but it does not negate hiding and sneaking.
allow scout spotting (f+w) to give you a solid target (red diamond) instead of stay for 20 seconds thxbai orange thing.
The current diamonds are fucking annoying, yes. At least, they could be made a little more transparent!
