Kill yourself

    Please add kill yourself to the normal player menu (key=f).
    There are sometimes situations, where you are stuck or you just spawned at the wrong barracks.
    Also if the commander is asking for help, this would be helpful.

    I know, that this is somehow possible by console. But it would be easier to use, if it were in the player menu.

    Yes, lets make suicide the same key as the communication menu :rolleyes:

    Otherwise, yes, I agree, BUT, it should be unbound by default. This is NOT a key that should be binded without the player knowing due to the fact that its instant death. Perhaps implement it as a special function, where you have to double tap it in rapid succession, to prevent accidental suicides?

    open the console and type "emp_unstuck" to get unstuck from the map, if you didn't know that already. you can bind emp_unstuck to a key by typing "bind k emp_unstuck" so then you only need to press k to unstick yourself.

    hopefully the "barracks transportation" idea will be implemented some time, and kill spawning will be a thing of the past.

    emp_unstuck should be bindable in the controls menu.

    Dystopia has in the key binding GUI a spot for killing yourself so you don't have to use the console to bind the key. Granted, it's more important in Dystopia since you may want to prevent yourself from blowing up in the middle of your teammates, but similar logic may apply for emp_unstuck if we continue to have to many sticky places to get stuck in.

    the game should ship with emp_unstuck bound to a key and kill bindable, one of the field manual extracts should explain how to killspawn. Killspawning means the difference between going barbarian horde on someones home base or spending the next 30 minutes loosing.

    This. You can already bind it, so why do you need to put it in in some other way?

    try this:

    press the console button (usuallythe ~ key, next to one on the top left o your keyboard. if you press 2 you will be shot.)

    type in bind "button" (if you actually out in "button i WILL stab you") kill.

    when you get into the game press that button repetetively. please.

    when you want to get rid of it, reinstall empires. (if you believe this go and permanently uninstall empires instead)

    Empires got enough of gameplay breaking gimmicks, Empires dosent need more of those, quite the opposite less of them...

    Sorry if my post was cryptic.

    I was suggesting that in the normal key binding area (Options Menus, where you can also bind stuff like Move Forward in that nice GUI) there also be bindings available for emp_unstuck and kill, just so people don't have to learn console bindings. I know it seems trivial, but that extra step and ease of use is helpful for new players.

    After same frustations at being commander I just want to push this subject.

    Kill+spawn is a very important strategic part. It's a absurdity that this is by default only accessable by console.
    So add this to the "f" menu or better bind it by default on key "k". So the commander can shout: "Press k and spawn in that APC now!".

    Also emp_unstuck should by binded by default (key "u").

    binding it by default may make some lolWTF moments though. Just have it in the controls menu. have another one for emp_unstuck, and have that bound to something by default. 'u' seems the most intuitive.

    A suicide key should NEVER be bound by default. Make it bindable via controls, but don't make it bound by default.
