Installation Problem

Hi. I've been trying to get my friend onto Empires for the last week and just can't seem to do it. He has a valid steam HL2 account and I downloaded HL2 Deathmatch. I ran the same EM installers for 1.0 and 1.71B that I used (mine works fine).

What I get: When the game is launched it just says "New Game" "Load Game" but none of the "find servers"

Once I gave him the IP of a valid EM server and it got all the way until the end and said "incorrect version of map"

Any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance.

He must install 1.0, then 1.7, and then 1.71b.

 

2 in a row... *shudders*

 

I'm seriously beginning to think the big read header has to become a reality


That, or:

WARNING: FAILURE TO INSTALL EMPIRES MIGHT RESULT IN NATURAL SELECTION!

look at the download page slith. i can easily understand ppl having problems following the lack of direction.

 

Download hl2 first... (If you haven't alredy done that)
