I know that this has been suggested before but most of the suggestions still require you to go into the VF to see if it is open. The tank icon next to the vehicle count is the indicator. As-is = open crossed out = locked For future versions with chassis restriction, half crossed for a partial restriction. yes/no/maybe/already suggested?
I'd say just give us a little popup window when you open the vehicle tab which says "The commander has restricted vehicle production" and then you can press ok and still customise etc, but you can't build.
good idea, people will finally not try to build tank when its restricted and not waste time going to vf
But then you still have to go into the vf to see if it is locked. I want to get the most information to the most people in the fastest way possible with the least amount of new code needing to be created as possible.
Blast doors that close over the VF vehicle part. Requires a model and animations, but would be pretty cool.
Lock noobs inside and this is win. Using the existing icon would be a simple solution, I like this idea.
I just got a better idea: Just turn the lights off inside the vf when it's locked. You can see that from the outside and it's more game integratish.
Even if this did happen, it doesn't matter, I walk by a vf when comm has restricted it and/or resources are super low and there are millions of peeps there constantly yelling "UNRESTRICT NOOB COMM F S SPACE!"
Better still, have a "door" close on the VF - would even add some humor to the game, trapping an enemy tank inside the VF, lol...
Having doors and teleporting will change game mechanics and introduce new bugs. The change shouldn't interfere with entities (players, bullets (somehow I don't think those are entities), etc).
That might confuse newbies. How about the original suggestion + some text under the health bar of the VF that says "Vehicle Creation Permitted" or "Vehicle Creation Restricted"
Couldn't we just make an icon appear when a player enters a vehicle factory area with like a vehicle with an x through it. Like when an engy tries to drop a turret in a restricted area.
After looking back at some of the other suggestions, I want to emphasize the point of this change is to pass the most amount of information (status of the vf) to as many people (everyone) as often as possible (constant update) from as many places as possible (anywhere on the map) with the least amount of new code as possible. Having to open a menu, enter the building, etc, all defeat the reason for this suggestion. I am in a fight and die. While waiting to respawn I see that the research is finished, and can immediately see if the vf is restricted or not. If the vf is open, I still have time to change my spawn to a base with a vf. Total time for the entire process is under 10 seconds.
